Hi Guys, Just thought i\'d say Hi... I\'ve purchased a T51R rex... running 509bhp.....
I\'ve heard tuning these things can be a nightmare..... is 1.0 bar the max on pump fuel or am i taking too many risks getting it remapped...
See link for pics....
I\'ve changed the rear lights to stock ones.
What does everyone think?

Very very nice, deffo rear lights need changing back as i really dont think the RX-8 lights suit any FD :god
Good purchase :mmmm

Thanks Mate :) Its allready done :) Will post some more pics up..... Im surprised how quick she is...... i\'ve had a 650hp skyline and supra and she\'s quicker than that.... :)
Is that being imported from japan ?
If so you will defintely have to get it mapped over here as the fuels are different ..
Just get everything checked to make sure your engine will be safe ...
Also you can go above 1 bar but it is recommended you get water injection and get it mapped with or without ( i would get without ). It helps save your engine ...
There are no risks getting it mapped if you go to a tuner who knows what they are doing.
Oh and don\'t believe the horror stories they are a load of bull.
Enjoy your ownership and the unique sound of the rotary .. but be warned it is like a drug
:D

Thanks mate :) Its over heat and been mapped at 1 bar by PIP!!! So i know its a safe tune... Just weary i guess running it any higher than that on the road........

Good choice, Pip knows his stuff so car should be very safe, mapped my Purple rx7 a few years back and it ran perfectly :cheers
great car mate! i had a race with it in my FD on the way back from a Japnortheast meet!
up to halfway through second gear i was keeping up with it but as soon as that 51 kicked in going up to 3rd it was off!
that lad who had it, had it for 3 years from stock!
Love the COLOUR!!
Wow, thats had some major cash thrown at it.
How much did it set you back if you dont mind me asking?
Welcome to the club, mate.
Looks like a high quality modified 7.
Not my taste with the bodykit and lights.
Buit If you´ll have fun taking it to shows, alot of NFS underground and Fast and the furoius boys will give you 10of10 :driving
Have alot of fun with your 7 be proud and treat her well!
:Thumbs-up
its a very nice looking car, and alot of money has been spent, but im not a big fan of that type of paint job.
Nice FD. Love the front lights. Paint is cool. Good to hear you put stock lights back in on the rear.
500bhp sounds good @ 14.7psi. Not even close to what this turbo can boost.
So why are you afraid to go over 1bar? If you have plenty of fuel and from the look of that spec sheet it has plenty of fuel. Is it because you guys have crapy fuel in the UK?
Re-tune it to 20psi and scare yourself. Should be around 600hp then. Its faster than your other cars because of the power to weight ratio.
Do you get different sized T51R\'s ?
Mmmm, shiney! Loving the colour-matched space saver wheel, someone\'s obviously had an almost obsessive eye to detail looking over that car. Not to my taste, but it\'s obviously been done to some pretty high standard, and you certainly won\'t be shy of a bit of attention. Thank god you ditched the rear chav-lights, though, they\'re nasty!
Thanks guys for your comments.... its an interesting car with more potential... just like i say nervous about turning it up...Its not to everyones taste.. but it is mine..... some of the mods on this are amazing.... the way it handles the power is just right....
its our crappy fuel, there is not that many people running 20psi, and TBH i dont know why really because im sure it would be fine with WI or am i wrong??
Yea should be fine with WI. What sort of fuel do you have there?
Lower octane burns faster, Add WI cools the air & fuel and slows the burn, there for stoping the fuel from ignition before you want it to. Keeps your plugs clean too.
Interesting guys... I guess its down to the tuner and there confidence.. If i knew there was a tuner who could achieve this i\'d be interested in taking the gamble.. i have some 850 primarys ready to drop in as well..
bit off topic but where do the WI kits inject into/on?
Quote from: ENVYD;527193bit off topic but where do the WI kits inject into/on?
Well mine goes in right on the Greddy elbow. Some put it in before the IC so that it mixes more with the air and makes it colder before going through the IC..this in turn lowers the temp of the air the radiator recives if its FMIC setup.
Some have it in just after the IC. I put mine close to the throttle as I want the mist to cool the fuel too. My system sprays the water in from any desired boost level @ 100psi. It goes through what looks like a nos nozel and comes out a very fine mist that mixes with the air.

stunning machine mate :Thumbs-up
eeek, thats car looks like an absolute beast!! not too keen on the rear bumper but that\'d be the last of my worries with 500bhp sitting under the hood!!!
Very nice car dude and welcome to the world of the Rotary :D
Thanks for the kind words guys...
So who is the best rx7 tuner in the uk then just in case i decide to turn it up ;)

I would say go to your nearest one they have all produced good results on track,The top Tuners are RXMotors,Dragon,WGT,REWorx, Dragon is probably your nearest in Exeter
I\'ve spoken to a number of tuners.. this morning. they all say a different thing... Some say don\'t use W/I.. some say do...hmmmm
who were they ones saying dont and what were the reasons??
i would say get it but dont tune for it
well put it this way worx don\'t like it.. and have took it off there cars
did they give you an explanation why?
i would of said its because they would of tuned for it

Hi Mate,
I notice we have the same turbo? What boost are you running on street trim?
They said they had issues with it... They didnt say what.

its mapped for 1.2 bar but thats maxing out the inj duty so i normally run at 1 bar on the road
Thanks
Lee
Ive been reading up on water injection for a while now & by no means claim to know to much but i think it also depends on what water injection system you run. some are a lot better than others
Thanks
Lee

personal pref
andy: urs in nice but nt keen on rear bumper.
giv it a while n i\'ll have the nicest fc lol (jk)
WI is ace in the summer months where it keeps the temps down when on boost, had it fitted to my Purple FD and loved it.
Quote from: BBCFC;527438lol.. whos got he best looking rx..?
Oooooh, can\'t believe you went there! I\'m gonna put my tin hat on and retire behind the parapet for a few days till it\'s all clear, I think :D. All a waste of time arguing it, it\'s obviously mine......
Anyone got a stock rear bumper they want to sell :)
sure i saw that car on eBay the other week
If you "tune" for WI you always do run the risk of it failing eg water clogging etc etc therefore you risk the engine, If dont tune for WI but use if as a safe guard then its brilliant if you run out of water of get a blockage then you are ok as your tune was without WI.
I would say tune the car to 1.2 BAR as loads of guys have mapped to this boost level on T51 on pump fuel 99 vpower not tescos rubbish, add WI for safety but you will lose a few horses.
If want to push the limit then run 50:50 mix and get it tuned up to 1.4 BAR but agree to take the risk.
Safest would be to run race fuel on track at 1.4 BAR but as we know race fuel is very expensive.
Believe me I run 10psi on the road and thats scary fast, will be going to 1 BAR on pump fuel very soon and on my porting/setup will see me at 550 at the fly, then will being doing a race fuel setting at 1.3 BAR and hopefully nudge the 600fly barrier, which will kill most 800bhp skylines and Supras on the strip

Thanks for the advice mate.... Im going to see your tuner in the a few weeks.:)
99ron sounds fine. The highest octane we have here is Gull F10. Its 98Ron with 10% Ethanol in it. This is what I use.
My FD is tuned to 1.4 bar & 1bar for the street. I added WI to drop air temp and belive me you notice it when you dont have it. The difference between WOT at 25c plus and WOT at 13c and lower is totaly insane. Its like driving your car on a 5c morning during a 28c summer day. Im sure if any of you have notice that your cars seem to pull much harder on a nice cold morning than they do during a warm day.
I have not tuned my FD to the WI. I just use it as an aid in keeping the power consistant. If the air temp stays cold the power stays up.
I can hook you all up with the kit I use. Its made here in NZ by PINZ. Has a pump that is designed to run dry & the base system costs $1000 NZ or 380GBP plus shipping costs.
Welcome in mate - stunning looking car with some serious mods / styling!
