Hi there guys and gals, been fricking ages since ive been on here.
Anyway, unfortunatly come to the end of the road with my rex (for now, untill i start earning more money!), and am selling it via a few websites. However the little sod has also just decided to start playing up :xconfused and im quite worried... Basically sounds like a lawn mower for the 1st 30ish seconds on a cold start up before (after a few revs) it begins to sound normal. It chucks out a bit of white smoke during this time then sorts itself out. HOWEVER, it only had a full engine/turbo rebuild in feb \'07 so im really hoping that it cant be the rotors gone.
Like i say, it only happens on cold start up, the rest of the time is fine!
Have checked the plugs for sooting/damage but all seem fine.
Any help or advice would be much appriciated as she needs to go, but dont want to sell her when shes poorly!:2Rolleyes

sounds very much like water seals mate im afraid.
as above...r u loosing water??
does sound like water seals, once warm does she start fine or with trouble?
Do you have any warrantee with the engine?
Thanks for the rapid response guys!
I have checked water, doesnt seem to have lost any - will check again later. Not sure about engine warrantee, all work was done at Jimmy\'s so will dig out the paperwork.
When you say water seals, you mean expensive dont you? :(
sounds to me like its starting on the one rotor and the white smoke is unburnt fuel. Cant understand why it would start on one rotor for 30 seconds though and then clear up. Maybe check your plugs?
That\'s what mine was like when the water seals went, It gradually got worse and worse and I started to get water loss that was noticeable.
black smoke is fuel.
white smoke is oil, no?
