Ok, gets into the car, clutch goes straight to the floor and cant select a gear, however if i pump it after a while it springs back and I can now select a gear, fluid is ok, but I guess that thing that i cant remember the name of right now has gone! lol
Anyone else experienced this? if so how did u sort it?
Master cylinder?
Are you running uprated or stock organic? It might be the clutch fork that might have bent or broken meaning you can\'t select gear
This happened to me about 3 weeks ago. Turned out to be the slave cylinder. Its mounted n the top of the gearbox. Easy enough to change just whip off the intercooler and you can see it between the bulk head and the engine (looking from the passenger side). The flexible hose is prone to leaking to and this is as gooder time as any for it to be replaced by a braided hose.

cant remember how much i paid for the master but i have got a real mazda one for sale, brand new for £60. i paid £63 for the mazda slave.
i tend to buy mazda bits as they work. although they are very expensive.
and if the rubbers are going in the slave they will be going on the master too
How do I determine which one has gone? ie master or slave?
The slave (one next to the intercooler if Im right) was low on fluid, filled it up but no change, and cant see a leak anywhere?
the master is the one that the pedel pushes. the slave is the one on the gearbox. you see it from the passenger side at the top. look up under the dash where the pedel pushes a rod. is there fluid?
look at the slave. is there any fluid. the one with fluid is the one you need to change.
Same thing happened to Brett\'s TII a few months back when I was driving it on the motorway, I\'d just left a service station and just couldn\'t go through the box - I was not a happy bunny - losing speed and everyone whizzing past me :( Had to flip the pedal up with my foot try to engage clutch - not fun at all :(

If you can\'t see any leaked fluid around the master cylinder (the one bolted to the bulkhead) then its most likely to be the slave cylinder as you can\'t really see it from up top unless you know what your looking for.
Well you can not go wrong by giving it a good bleed, for the sake of about £4 and half an hour its the 1st thing you need to do. Failing this then take the lower inspection plate of the gearbox and see inside and around the clutch area. Check the forks on the arm etc. If everything is ok you can take the master and slave cylinders apart, if the car is a non mover anyway then you have nothing to lose. Take them apart and inspect the seals, if they are suspect then the best way is to buy a new item complete. The bores do get corroded and sometimes a little too much. I have tried to recover the bores but its just not worth it. They need to be perfect. I must admitt that I have taken mine apart on the project car just to inspect, clean and then rebuild. I did not change anything. If they are worn on one bore you can bet your life the other is too. best to change as a pair and then problem solved................ Unless the problem is within the clutch/bell housing
Talking about clutches can anyone suggest and give a possible link for an uprated clutch as i had mine changed for a stock one and sucks major wang. :Thumbsup!
thats for an 88 n/a FC
ok... no one has any idea???
