well went to r5 to get the latest from the supposed supper charged black/yellow rx8 as i am after a supper-charged kit for my own and have $£y to do it , well sorry but i wasn\'t impressed at all .:Grrrthe kit looks as if it been poured out of a colander in to the engine bay, the technical info was,nt up to hype of its performance on the track, no one from the work shop to help with any info.:flamed if people want £6,000.00 for this were,s the sales service .if the day for this super-charger was to perform, then it was at r5 and sadly it did not happen ,the standard 8 was one second slower so, i am going to spend £6,000.00 for 1 second performance, i don\'t think so, sadly they lost a customer :reallymad:reallymad:reallymad
Who/what s/c kit was that?
It was the yellow 8 in the photo below (you can see Tony and Ray checking it out). Sorry I don\'t know the spec - not really my sort of thing.
I don\'t post much here but just felt I would post to clear a few things up.
From what Robbie who runs Pettit Racing who had the 2 supercharged 8s there a black and a yellow said :Talking1to me before he did his first run was he didn\'t want to push the black sc 8 he took up the strip to hard, he also says it\'s designed for street and track use not strip use.
Having said that I ran a 15.7:3gears-lh with only a different backbox which will make no real difference and I think his best was a 15.3, I feel he should have got a better time than this.
You can see full info on the sc on their website //www.pettitracing.co.uk
The main advantage Pettit have at the moment is they are able to re flash the standard ecu and you don\'t need a piggy back job, hopefully some of the other guys will be able to flash the standard ecu as well soon.
Tony it might be worth giving the guys at Trimar a ring as these will be the guys who\'ll be fitting it see their website here http://www.tvr-centre.co.uk/

Mines a 231 the Pettit one was also a 231 with a SC on it and should be up by 80-100bhp according to Pettit.

thanks just interesting to see run times, but as you say i would expect a good 1.5 sec improvment with a charger

It would be interesting to know what kind of cost this would be to get and have fitted, I\'m looking at SC or Turboing my 8 sometime middle of next year so all info on sc and turbos will be greatfull recieved.

Well done with the time as I feel anything below a 16 is good for near stock RX-8\'s :Thumbs-up
Cheers Clive:Thumbs-up I was well happy :D with that time my other two runs were a 16.3 and 16.4 both DSC on and the last one was with it turned off.
Oh and Robbies second run in the SC 8 was a 14.7 althought I still fell he should have been in the low 14s at least .
i suppose in my first thread i might of been a bit harsh but with the supercharged black rx8 that is what i was hoping to see go down the track, i can see if Robbie did not want to thrash his and this would have been at his own expense, if any thing was to go wrong, i just felt that this was the time and place that some of us who want to take are cars to the next level ,would have been the ideal event to promote the product so i will give this some lea way and keep an eye out for further improvements. (tango Tony ) cause i still would and want to supercharge mine:3gears-rh:3gears-rh
I was thinking and saying the same thing as you Tony and although he says it\'s more for street and track use showing a good 1/4 mile time won\'t have done him any harm. I also thought the black 8 was a bit of a test bed (the yellow one being his own).
Also having seen how nice your engine bay is Tony and can fully understand you wanting it to look nice.
There are other options re sc might be worth speaking :Talking1 to reworxs as I think they sorted out TW Whites one for them.
Reworx have turbo\'d several RX8\'s now
do you know of any prices for a full in stall and is this a piggy back ecu thanks tango tony:confused::2Confused:Hammer
RE Worx website has the Greddy install down as £4000 + Vat for a complete install and set up. It uses a Greddy E-Manage as its fuel and ignition controller. Talk to Tekken (he\'s around here sometimes) as he\'s got the kit on his RX8 however I think he\'s using an HKS F-Con on his. He has dynoed at about 250 bhp at the back wheels on his straight after fitting running quite a low boost (4-6psi I think). However I do know that another RX8 with the same kit has it running slightly higher boost (about 8 psi) and has seen 340 bhp on the dyno with a decat pipe.
