Title: Car value
Post by: the jackel on August 01, 2008, 08:38:51 AM
Apologies if this isn\'t in the right section.

I am trying to get an idea of what my car might be worth. It is simply not getting used enough and when I do drive it I don\'t get to enjoy it as the performance car that it is.

Anway the car is a 1993 UK spec model with 36000 documented miles. Pretty much standard spec with loads of receipts and other paperwork (including strong compression proof). Condition is very good with only issue being slightly faded paintwork in a couple of places.

Sorry if this sounds like an Ad but just trying to give an accurate description incase you guys might be able to help with a valuation.

thanks
Mike

Low mileage UK cars are quite rare indeed.  Something like 124 where officially sold and a few of those now are not with us, a lot of the rest are well over 70,000 miles.

Good compression will also help you.  The other thing to push is if you have no rust.  Most likely place is in the lip of the rear wheel arch.  With so few miles I can only guess that its probably pretty tidy!

As for the value, well the market gets worse im afraid (pertol etc etc) but you have a potential good example, although I wouldnt want to guess what it\'s worth - it\'s a buyers market so a lot of people are selling for less than the true value :)

Probably need to see pics of the paintwork, interior etc

Is the service history complete?

Hopefully the above link should lead you to some pics. I am working nights at the moment so haven\'t got any pics of the paint issues but will get some early next week.

To the best of my knowledge there isn\'t any rust on the car. As for service history it has had 12 services, done either at mazda dealers in it\'s earlier life or Roteckniks since my ownersship over the past 5 years.

Compression readings are 7.6 7.3 7.6 for the rear and 8.2 8.2 7.9 for the front.

Out of curiosity, I realise it\'s a buyers market but was wondering if the fact that I have quite a rare example not push things in my favour somewhat? I realise that patience may well be the key with this sale

Hope this helps and thanks for your time and replies

Looks a nice clean example. Trouble is no ones buying them for anything like good money. And most being bought are modified. The market for a good clean low mileage Uk car is, I would say, minimal. As you say, it will be a long waiting game to get anything like good money for it.
