Well just had the most cliff hanging drives back from the docks ever.
Just been to pick up another FD and I dont know what frickin clutch it has in it but the biting point is about 3mm from the floor. Plus battery is goosed on it so if id of stalled i\'d of been fricked as battery pack didnt have enough juice left to start. To top it all off was sat in the worst traffic ever getting out of bootle and litherland and my ankle felt like it was going to snap after half an hour..... So glad once I got on the M58.
On the plus side the car is an absolute beast and wheel spun in 4th on motorway. Chatter from the KKK is awesome! :burnout
Water temp remained constant at 82 degrees, rose to 89 in traffic and fans kicked in and brought it down to 83. Oil pressure, fuel pressure, oil temp, etc all remained spot on. (the blitz gauges are actually quite nice). Got a frickin pivot head light adjuster which I need to figure out how to work as the car looks like it\'s been smoking some major crack. :Laugh
Needs a damn good service, new brake pads, and the bodywork needs some G3 magic..... but overall im actually quite happy.... for once. Think I may keep this for myself. :D
if the biting point is that low, do the normal stuff eg, bleed the clutch system with new fluid and adjust the rod from the pedal to the clutch master cylinder, worse case scenario you might need to change the clusth master or slave cylinder as seals do perish
This thread is worthless without pics !!!!!
Yeah thought about that, funnny enough i\'ve just done the same on my other FD the other week, clutch hose and slave cylinder needed replacing.
Will run the machine and G3 over it then take some pictures. One of my skirts has taken a battering getting it off the ship, so will have to do some fiberglassing. :(
whats the spec then??
we need pics lol you must have some :D
wheels spun in 4th hmmm

Will take some soon, main points from spec translated from japan is:
Overhauled side ported motor by knightsports (currently on 12,000 kilometers)
Blitz KKK series turbo w/ HKS airfilter
Blitz external wastegate with screamer pipe / Blitz downpipe
Greddy Intercooler
Uprated sard injectors / Sard fuel pump
Apexi PowerFC / Blitz boost controller.
Claimed power output in Japan 530ps.
Obviously would have to get it mapped and dyno\'d over here to see actual power output.
............and yes accelerated moderately in 3rd changed to 4th and it spun.
Having the Klu Klux Klan in the back going on and on can be very annoying. Anyway get some pics up soon.
:rollin:rollin:rollin

Perhaps an upgrade to C18 could be on the cards? :Giggle
I think the clutch engagment has alot to do with wheel spin. Sounds like & a nice FD.
Do you guys like that turbo chatter? I dont mind it but I set my car up with 2 50mm Tial units to eliminate that chatter. Have fun with your new car.
If you are going to drive it in traffic often, try an Exedy Carbon twin plate D core...holds up to 800hp & works like a stock clutch. When it gets hot it grips more. I use this unit on my FD as I drive it to work every day.
Enjoy!
Cheers Dr-Rotor. I dont mind the clutch as the car is going to be just a track car and will probably only see road when it\'s being loaded onto the trailor. Driving back from the docs was a one off with it......... If i\'d of known what the traffic was going to be like though i\'d of waited for my trailor to get back first. lol.
Have you got an email address Dr-Rotor?, I was going to have a chat about your setup for the track.
On the subject of turbo chatter.... personally I love the sound but im just a little concerned as to turbo stall as the car currently has no blow off valve. Dont want to cause any shaft/blade damage to the turbo. Any body got any views on this?
views on Turbo surge the need for bov etc etc do a search on here there have been two large heated debates on the subject, generally on twins and small shafted turbos have a bov, on medium to big single my view dont bother, but have a look on the big thread on this to make up your mind
Im sort of in agreement with you as I had run no bov on an mr2 turbo for a while and ended up damaging the shaft, however that was a ceramic turbo.
I think i\'ll leave the setup how it is until I can get it to pip\'s to be mapped and just take it from there.
My email is bmlove777@hotmail.com (bmlove777@hotmail.com)
Id be happy to chat about track stuff.
On the BOV side of things this is my view. Yes the turbos may be big & strong & can take a beating but there will always be wear & tear. I prefer the turbo to work without the stress of back pressure when you lift off the gas.
As I have learnt if you treat your stuff with respect it last longer & gives you the satisfaction you require. I had 2 BOVs T\'d into 1 line to the plenum....it dose not work well enough. I plumbed each BOV to its own vacum line point on the plenum. Now all I hear is a sharp very quick dump of air & no stress on my turbo.
Have a listen on this short clip of the car....http://youtube.com/watch?v=sM9qNeGrWgo
Dirty filter element needs replacing, and engine bay is still dirty from the ride over here. But here\'s a shot of the turbo. (Before anyone asks the pipe work isnt held together with heat wrap and cable ties, there is a silicon hose and clamps underneath it.)

Again dirty and need\'s a little work but you get the idea.

try washing the filter element first and if not they are only about £20 new.
Yep with a bit of cleaning and polishing that engine bay is going to look sweeeeet
Yep that KKK is very fine turbo
Cheers mate. I\'ve got a new element on order. Not going to do much with it as im away soon for a few week, but when i get back i\'ll service it and get it registered. Going to change the ast at the same time.
Give it a good service some underdrive pulleys and a good clean up. Id put WI and not bother getting it remapped.
Wheel spinning in 4th? Ive only ever driven one car that can do that.

Got a few sets of Greddy pulleys and I think? some RE-A ones in the back of the garage somewhere.
Yes, for the final time it did break traction in 4th. Although in it\'s favour is probably the rock hard, cracked bald jap rubber that is currently sat on the BBS LM\'s....
Ross while where on the subject of these cars do you do a battery re-location kit?
aaahhh man i missed that car by one phone call. It was closing time there and i could not get through to a seller and next mornning it was sold:3Confused
but im glad its here in the UK with us now:Thumbsup! have loads of fun with her. That wastegate must be :2eek and then there is that turbo chatter...:burnout
Lol.... Again sorry Laeeq. :D
A friend of mine over there told me about it being for sale a week or so before I put the offer in. I think I made the offer just before he first put it up for offers with exporters, as I remember it being offered to me through another agent. I had the great pleasure in telling him to take it off as I already owned that car. lol.
Bodywork needs attention in places and the skirts took a battering getting off the boat, but all in all im happy to keep this one for myself. :D
you got any more pics of the car :D
Some from Japan, not the best, the bodywork isnt showroom, but I knew that when I bought it and to be honest it\'ll probably be even more abused when it goes on track anyway, will get some better pics up from over here soon:
Back end, knightsports wing, veilside spats, sides unknown.....

Looks good Kev. Just sent you an eamil. Its a long one.
Cheers mate. Thats my works email so wont have access to it till tomorrow. Look forward to reading it!
Stunning car mate !
With some work done to it (cleaning especially!) that will look superb. Bomex bumper is great !!!
Cheers mate. Bodywork will be completely changed anyway with something I have in mind. :D
Work will start when I get back from holiday and also when the funds/wife allows it! :D
Well after a 15 hour delay back from holiday I set out and took my aggression out on the car, after 1/2 a day with the mop and G3 the back end is looking atleast somewhat reasonable..... I hate red cars.

Comments welcome, good or bad. :D
It\'ll do for the time being, started to strip the interior too but jet lag got the best of me. When it\'s finally half way ready for the track im thinking of maybe the Yamaha R1/R6 type blue/purple colour.... and of course a load of tacky graphics.
This sort of colour.... maybe?

Took it out for a little drive yesterday, car has a few little niggles, nothing major though, starts from hot and cold really well with hardly any smoke from a cold start up either!
looking good mate. whats the spec of the turbo? hear a lot about KKK\'s with no complaints so far.
Adam
Cheers mate, dont know the full spec of the turbo yet as i\'ve not had chance to have a proper look yet. I know the car has alot more parts on it than the list I was given in Japan.
I was underneath it yesterday evening and the whole of the bottom has bracing in bright red, although I dont think it\'s autoexe parts? It has a blitz downpipe from the turbo into re-amemiya midpipe and out through apexi gt exhaust. Nearly everything in the engine bay is braided aswell, including things like clutch hose etc.
It\'s just got a few niggling little problems that need ironing out. Nothing major I dont think anyway. Cooling system appears to be very good for a fmic. Driving normally temps dont go above 82, when giving some boost never go above 84, when stuck in traffic they rise to about 89 then the fans kick in and it comes right back down to 82 within seconds. Im unsure what radiator it is, but appears to be much better than the new koyo one I have on my daily driver fd. (plus it has a drain valve in the bottom and a bleed valve in the top, so it\'ll probably be pretty easy when doing a coolant change. Famous last words.)
yep thats very good temps, im running cooler since fitting the PWR rad around 83-85, besides anything under 95 is fine
