what other mods have you done?

Sounds like fuel cut/detination, im not sure though. Although i wouldnt recommend doing it untill you know for sure, otherwise you could be paying for a re-build:(

if it only does it in higher gears then i would say its Fuel cut, the ecu does this as a safety precaution if boost goes up above standard. if this is your only mod then it is unlikely to be detonation.  If you are planning other mods then you should look to get an after market ecu (apexi, microtec) and it wont be an issue.  What does your boost gauge read?

the only mods i have had done is a hks downpie and a cat replacement pipe, just put the apexi cones on tonite.
before putting that on the car never done that! could it be that ive put the blank on the wrong pipe?
i havent got a boost gauge

ok you need an ecu. Dont drive WOT untill you have one, otherwise you\'ll be needing a re-build.

An Apexi PFC will cost in the reigon of £600, thats the bad news the good news is more power:  :burnout

It is almost definately fuel cut,  with the cat out and bigger down pipe,  your turbos will have a little less back pressure,  now you have put the free flowing filters on the turbos can draw more air and boost.   A fuel cut defender will just plug in will stop it doing this.

Course you could always put the old filters back on till you get a new ecu. Just a thought!!! :-)

unfortunetly on the FD a fuel cut defensor wont work, you need a full ecu to sort out the fuelling, a FCD will mean it\'ll boost more and detinate which = rebuild. sorry.

remember there are 2 power FC\'s depending on your FD, cant remember how you know which one you need though.

no,  the ecu is the engine control unit,  an Apexi power fc is a complete replacement computer that is completely reprogramable (by the right person) a FCD is a small gadget that plugs in your wiring loom that tricks your standard ecu into not cutting.  If you get a boost gauge and you are not running more that about 11 - 12 psi you should be ok but ultimately the eCU is next upgrade.  If you got one before sunday you would need it mapped !  are going to TSC4?

to be honest i wouldnt risk it IMO without either an PFC on base map or the airbox back in.

If your close to a specialist i\'d take a trip down(carefully) and try and get the bit of plastic you broke.

i cant imagine its too hard.

what part is broken? is it stopping it working?thinking about it you may beable to still use it on a temp basis if you use tape.

ten minute job,  once you have uncovered your ecu, (passenger footwell)  its just four plugs.  I am using a Power fc. I would recomend having the commander with it unless you can borrow one.

May well be fuel cut, but also the pipe you blanked off is the one that should have a rubber hose connected to the charge relief valve what\'s happened to that?
On the apexi filter below on the thin pipe you should have the other rubber hose connecting to the bleed valve which goes to the y pipe above the turbos.

wen i fitted my bov i had to blank off the top connecter from the air box, so i guessed that wen i fitted the induction kit the blank went there

from my opinion/experiance FCD is merely a modification for the symptom & not the problem ie not a good method of correcting said issue (http://www.stupid-boy.com/smilies/contrib/edoom/sad2.gif)
