Title: Coil pack problem ?
Post by: the_muzza on July 21, 2008, 01:08:01 PM
Hello all,

I recently thought I had popped an apex seal, reason being I was giving the car a bit of a leg stretch, then got a sudden loss of power, pulled up to the lights and the car started running like a Subaru and the gear stick was shaking heavily..

Fearing the worst I pulled the engine out and replaced it with a second hand one, having inspected the seals, and it giving strong compression by hand on all sides.

My problem is, the new engine now does exactly the same thing as before !!

I still sounds like PARP PARP PARP PARP PARP PARP at idle, and stutters likes its only firing on one rotor as the revs rise gently from idle. The Front rotor plugs are fouled up and black and stink of petrol.. I have tried new plugs and leads still same problem.

Do you think it could be the leading coil pack that is at fault.. That is my last avenue of thought as to what it could be..

I have noticed i am also only getting -390mmhg idle vacuum whereas before I was getting -460mmhg.. Although If the front rotor isnt firing I expect this would explain it..

Does anyone have a leading coil pack I could borrow or buy either ?

Thanks for any help in advance

Doug
