I mean, c\'mon now, seriously, WTF!?!?!
It\'s like some deranged chimp on acid has gone wild with the crayons and that\'s the basis on which it\'s all hooked up!
After swearing and cursing to get the all the ACV stuff off (why can\'t you remove the reas turbo inlet??? At all???? Madness!), where you need 5 elbows and a total intolerance to pain... At point I felt like Mel Gibson in Leather Weapon, where I just HAD to dislocate my shoulder to get at the awkward bolt!
Anyway, is there really no easier way to control the twin turbo\'s? Has anyone used the Blackbok from a 96+ model on a older car? I\'m doing the simplification as well, but man, it\'s really, really mental. Come back N/A engines! All is forgiven!
Or no one has made a clever little box that can just switch the turbo\'s as and when needed?
AAARRRGGGHHHH!!
Thanks, just need to vent!

and breathe.......

Leather Weapon?
Is that the one with the hamster?
If I remember correctly its the one with the crotchless leather chaps. :Giggle
Have a nice cup of soothing tea and go paint a stoat.
Yeah it was the one with Melanie Gibson... Was very popular in feltching circles! :o
But yeah, calmed down now... Just a truely mental car to work on, and with things that are so fduking tight to get to it\'s madness!
Anyway, stoat now painted (???) and normal service has been resumed ;)
Feltching? was that a fraudian slip? :Giggle Got to admit the rats nest job is a nice one your back hurts like hell after it but once you got it all back together you can laugh that you hve tamed one of the worst things to work on in this car :Talking1
;) I think "Leather Weapon" was the more severe Freudian slip!
But I\'m gonna do the simplification as well, just rip out as much as possible from the whole engine bay as possible is the current idea :D
It does make going single seem such a nice idea, but then the twins when working are uper sweet!
hahahahahaha Leather weapon wtf!!
there is a replacement solenoid pack for sale on fduk, i fitted one and tbh is a lot better than standard and i have seen them mounted to the back of the uim.
matt
Yep had one of them solenoid racks fitted to mine and like matt says i fitted it to the back of the uim, Looked like i had almost totally dunn away with the rats nest but i was still running on twins at the time :D
Here is a pic of what they looked like on the back of the uim :D
Also they can handle a lot more than stock boost as well.
Cant find this for sale on FDuk anywhere? would be interested because that rats nest is crazy.
You see! Single turbo FC FTW!:Giggle
Seriously though this rats nest seems to be the bain of many a 7 owners existaince! What does it do? Something like swaping over priority from the initial turbo to the main one?
How do other - inferior! Because all other cars are! Lol! - twin sequential cars manage this without owners being driven to distraction with resulting trouble and strife?:Giggle
Oh and why is it called a rats nest? Sorry for going off topic BTW!
yeh singles FTW, i was so shocked when i first saw the rats nest, couldnt wait to rip it all out.
and steve them solenoids mounted there look very cool.
Carl has a set of these on his shelf if i remember correctly, they came off my car.

Thank you :) they did take a lot of fitting removing and refitting but it was worth it as it lookd so neat.
It\'s called the rats nest cause when you lift of the UIM for the first time the amount of pipes looks a mess, exactly like a rats nest looks like.
