Yes the commanders are different as well, I know this cos I got the wrong one by mistake:D
If you have the wrong one it will light up and display APEXi but will not function

There are 2 Commander part #\'s; for 8 and 16 bits cars. And yes, there are loads of s/w versions across FPC\'s and FCC\'s...

Power FC;
<12/95 - Z004
1/96-12/98 - Z005
1/99> - Z006

FC Commander;
<12/95 - Z001
1/96> - X001

There are also some early models of both with totally different part #\'s - I had trouble with one of these a couple of years back so would avoid them at all costs...

The numbers for the different years according to Apexi are as above; yes, the later commanders work on all PFC\'s or seem to - but the early ones dont (or dont always!) work on later cars. Get the \'right\' numbers for your car and you dont have to worry about what works with what! :)

Rich is perfectly right about the part numbers. You can also tell by the serial number on the power FC itself

Z001 is for POWER FC Serial numbers FD3S XXXXXXX
X001 is for POWER FC Serial numbers FD3S5 XXXXXXX

If yours is a 8 bit 94 then i don\'t think the commander you have will work....apexi will be displayed but you won\'t be able to access anything.  If this is the case then send it back and ask for a Z001.  Where did you buy the commander from?  I can get you a new one for 215 delivered  :)

Cheers

I\'ve definitely used late Commanders with early power fc\'s like Brian so I think it will probably work; but as Adam says - the guy who supplied you should have sent you the right one in the first place...

So mine won\'t work?.. shit! I got it direct from Japan through a friend, cost me £170 inc shipping. If it doesn\'t work I\'ll sell it to someone who needs one... no problem. thx guys!

Hi martin...

I would\'nt worry if i was you...thing is i always supply what is recommended for that particular apexi power fc so i have never tried the X001 on 8 bit models.  I just know that the Z001 does not work on the 16bit version.  Now Rich and a few others seem to think that tha X001 also works on earlier models and rich is usually right :)  so you may be in luck.....
