Very loud, and well cool! It was class watching the Mazda guys sart it in the pits, the technician said in that very polite American way to the punter stood right behind it "You probably really don\'t want to stay standing there sir". Sure enough, ten seconds later it was belching flames out the arse of it just where the bloke had been stood! Very much like your rather fine second pic there.

It\'s in the Top Gear Supercar special this month as well, and a perfunctory couple of pages in Banzai about the Nagare concepts, too (oh, along with Lum\'s old car!)

It would be great to see it put into production for racing, but no doubt it would be banned after the first season for the same reasons as the 787B.

[Daydream] It would be nice to see it run with the pack just once though :mmmm

Makes most other supercars look very ordinary. Not sure if this vid has already been posted (apologies if it has) but the sound of the Furai coming down the straight at speed is spine tingling (even on my tinny laptop speakers).

All those that are going to the motor show over the next week could spend an hour hassling Mazda to get it to Rotorstock! I`m sure they would appreciate it!

I have personally bulk mailed Mazda from the PR dept right through to the MD directly to ask for the Furai to attend R5 along with the RX-8/R3.

I have done my best to try convince them that Rotorstock was conceived to promote the Rotary and that they need to attend to wow a potentially untapped market at what is NOW a premier Japanese enthusiasts event with the Furai.

I have explained that I feel that that they have an untapped market because enthusiasts at R5 would not necessarily go to Goodwood or the Motorshow and have also given the reminder that we help supply them with cars for their events and could we now have assistance with ours please.

Tried to get the 787B from them last year to no avail, fingers crossed,

Hi Clive

Thank you for your e-mail.  As you can imagine the Furai, as the only one of its kind in the World, is in much demand around the globe.  Currently we have to do some work on the car here in the UK following the motorshow and then it goes back to Germany and then on California and then down to Mexico where it is due to appear in their motorshow in September.  You and the Mazda rotary club do a lot to help us and that is much appreciated and I wish I could help you with this request but unfortunately the car does not have time in its schedule.  The other issue is that the car could not run as it currently does not have its engine in situ as you will see if you watch Top Gear on Sunday.

Kind regards and sorry I cannot help

Oh well! Thanks for trying Clive. It would have been awesome to see it in the flesh (maybe the *only* reason for me to visit the motor show this year?!); even more so if they\'d put it up strip  :burnout

Clive,

Great that you tried and they implied that if it fitted into the schedule they would like to have helped. How about responding saying that as soon as we have a date for 2009 we will let them know so they can put it into their schedule earlier?  Hopefully there will be additional rotary concepts going around next year.

What happened to the engine?  Hope it didn\'t go pop on the most popular motoring TV show.

Hi Kevin

Here you go, this was my response to Mazda\'s PR Director that was met with a favorable reply that would blow the minds of ALL Jap car enthusiasts if it comes off  at R6 :Thumbs-up

Hi ****** hope your well,

Thank you for the reply and as you must realise I need to ask these questions on behalf of our Rotary community  and also that we actually want to show owners of “other” makes of vehicle the best Mazda has to offer .

I do realise you all operate within a certain budget but it would be nice if next year Mazda could support us with some sort of “live attraction” at our Rotorstock event just as Mazda does for my American friends who operate Sevenstock every year.

Kind REgards

Clive Haynsford

The response to the above is that Mazda have come back today and asked for next years Rotorstock date and that they will try and help next years event with "something special" that moves :mmmm.

It would not be prudent to divulge any more, lest it jeopardises anything :Thumbsup!

Well done to Clive for trying - what ever they can give us for RS6 is likely to be a good croud puller.   Would be good to get Mazda to attend Rotorstock as it adds even more credibility to what seems a growing interest in the Rotary market.

Bit dissapointed with TG. Very low-key presentation - very unflattering camera shots and no explaination as to why it isn\'t working.

There\'s a separate thread about TG Iain.

Mazda told Clive in their statement that it was broken and it would be on TG - but I assumed that meant we\'d find out what had happened.

Looks like Mazda will be releasing some kind of pure sports machine in the distant future, firstly by getting to their motorsport rotary roots. I can see that 3 rotor engine being put in some R8 destroying vehicle, and theyve hinted at maybe a road going version at the Furai, but we shall see.
