Title: Passenger Door...
Post by: fil_auto on July 16, 2008, 02:52:57 PM
Bit of an odd one guys..... does anyone have any pointers / suggestions for me to check out asap...??

Out of the blue ( admittedly after a mate shut the door harder than necessary )... the passenger door will not open...??!!
Well..... the door catch works, clicks to open..... the door tries to open, prob get about 2 / 3 inches..... and then it\'s as if something near the hinges is stopping it from opening??!!

Odd and a little annoying...

Please help..

cheers Phil.

Can you open/force it open from the inside? One of the hooks in the handle might have dislodged...

do you mean its opening 2-3 inches or 2/3`s of an inch?
Could it be squashing the door cables between the inner wing and door frame?

Open it a touch, then slide a bit of wire or a coat hanger through the gap, move it around the door and see if it catches on anything bud

not sure but can you remove wheel and wheel arch liner to see hinge area?
could be worth a look if all else fails.

Thanks guys and after almost loosing the plot, I had a good look around the door and all become clear.... well one, long rather out of place screw did! #;o)
Sorted...

....have fixed it...... one of the interior door trim screws ( long ones ) that secures it in place had come loose and upon attempting to open, was jamming on the door panel! Secured, tightened and sorted! #;o)

The culprit before tightening up!

Where it was jamming against....

In essence I suppose it did thanks bud ...... as I was trying to move the hanger around and shortly after that I got my head through the window from outside the car and had a look around the door frame, at which point a spotted the culprit!

Thanks again

Phil.
