Hey again!
I\'ve just pulled out my air pump, already got a decat so it\'s not been attached to anything so out it comes!
Anyway, the rest of the pipes that go from the air pump to the exhaust, how do you get them out? Is there an easy way? Or is it bolted here and there all the way to the exhaust?
Also, does anyone where I can get a bung for the airbox to block off where the airpump attached to?
Cheers,
Mark
Also, do I have to block off the ACV etc? Do I need the blanking plates or will it run fine just without the Airpump? I can\'t seem to find a conclusive answer and a load of the info is US based which had some different gubbings to the Jap cars right?
BTW I have an Apexi Power FC so do I also need the resistor for the air pump terminals on the wiring loom?
i removed everything and used the blanking plates, looks far better and gives a bit more room for air flow :)
The exhaust pipe just connect to the exhaust, theres no other clips holding it i if i remember right, i just cut it off as far down as i could reach lol, then removed when i had the car jacked up again..
The connector can just be taped up and hidden
But where do the blanking plates go!?!?! I\'ve literally just pulled the air pump out, and the single hose it attaches to at the back...
That hose connects to a metal pipe which goes down by the side of the UIM but I thought I\'d just be able to pull it out (given it\'s not attached to anything), but it\'s stuck somewhere down there???
Should I be taking the UIM off as well to finish this off?
think i used 3 blanking plates, when you remove everything like the airpump and arc think its called it leaves big holes, plenums gotta come off yeah bud..
That\'s the three blanking plates I\'ve used to block off the airpump. Two on the side (that face the bulkhead) and one on the rear that faces the ratsnest.

Oh blimey, bitten off something a bit bigger than I first thought! LOL!
Oh, well, off with the UIM I guess... Which means may as well redo the rats nest... And say good bye to my spine!
Cheers guys, and superb pics Matt, much apprecaited.
Cheers,
Mark
Great pics Matt, always wondered where these went.
Thanks Bob
banzai racing in the us do a very good blanking kit at a good price. just bare in mind that although the airpump wasn\'t pumping into the exhaust, it was still supplying air into the exhaust ports of the lim, and so helping pass the dreaded MOT. by removing the airpump you are going to have fun passing the emissions test!!!!
Just looking at the service books, and yeah, the LIM feeds into the exhaust by the looks of things... Weird, I wouldn\'t have thought that at all!
But I\'m sure there\'s a way to struggle by emissions tests :D
So may as well just bin it all!
Just a quickie, while I await the arrival of the blanking plates from MRP... Will the car run OK with just the air pump off? Or will it draw in extra air via the ACV etc?
yeah it will run fine. just keep the actual valve thingy on the lim until the blanking plate comes. i tried removing it and just using instant gasket to hold the one way valve in the lim*. didn\'t work, made a right mess of my engine bay!
*yes yes, i wear spurs and a stetson, and drinking gulping whiskey......
this might shock you but i had the same problem getting that pipe out it was stuck between the LIM and one of the turbo pipes. I ended up taking a chissel to it! :rollin
LOL! Liking the 10 gallon hat there :D Matches mine quite often ;)
Cool, cheers guys!
And Leon, glad it\'s not just me, it\'s stuck tight but if I\'m pulling the UIM off then I\'d imagine I\'d be able to get to it much easier and I\'ll attack it with full vigour!
I have just done this but i just removed the pump. bunged the tube it leaves with a nut. and bunged the bit that goes to the cat. until i can get a mate to machine me some plates. which i still need templates for.
All the bits you remove (3 of them, ACV, split air pipe and such like), have a metal gasket, you should be able to use them as templates pretty easily.
I was lazy and just purchased as set ;)
