Title: Problems with KG parts rail
Post by: Timmy on July 09, 2008, 10:39:47 PM
Has anyone else had problems with them?
Jason (super7) fitted one on my car and it leaks, i trust him on this fully but rx7store really don\'t seem to care and think there is nothing wrong with them. But after some research it seems many have had problems with this rail.

If it\'s leaking on from the injectors because they are not pushing in far enough, I have found that by leaving the small alen bolts on the rail loose but fitting the feet bolts tight onto the rotor housing then pushing down on the middle of the rail and finally tighten the small alen bolts cures this "fault"

I dont believe there is a fault. Depending what injectors you are using, you need to use the spacers he sells, I\'m assuming you havent.

When you say "But after some research it seems many have had problems with this rail." - is this on RX7club? Keith\'s fuel systems used to get excellent write ups on there, may be some thing has changed, its a while since we dealt with him.

Dont really need to stress how important properly seating injectors are. They *do* lift if they dont fit properly and will leak fuel - about 12 inches from a 1000 degree turbo housing!

HTH Tim.

Hey Rich, thanks for pointing me this way. :)

Not sure what the problem is or where the fuel is leaking from... just saying that "it is leaking" leaves a lot of possibilities..
People "mess-up" installing all the time. It could be like Clive said and the injectors are not in all the way. Someone else said they messed with it for 2 days??? if you are messing with taking injectors in and out trying to solve a leak, I can only assume that an o-ring was torn, maybe more than once, takingn them in and out. If it was torn even slightly, you are right... you will NEVER get it to stop leaking.

Although you seem to have purchased them through rx7store, we (KGParts) could also have been contacted.
If it make it any easier for you, we have a forum on our site where you can post pictures and ask questions just like here.... but right to the source. here is a link to our Mazda section. Please feel free to sign up and ask away. http://kgparts.com/forums/mazda/
Only reason I am saying to post it there is that I dont have time most weeks to search through the hundreds of forums we are on. Only reason I saw this was that Rich from REWorx pointed me in its direction.

Hey Keith :)

Whats the deal with the ally spacers, what injectors require them? I seem to recall we used to use them, but it was a while ago and i dunno what injectors we\'d ahve been fitting at the time.

Thought it was worth giving u the headsup, our experience of the kits was only ever good, so hopefully Tim can get his kit sorted out with your input.

I have these, and can\'t say that i\'ve noticed them leaking. But I haven\'t really checked them thoroughly: whereabouts do they leak?

They sit in the rail fine, but once under boost ie the fuel pressure and duty goes up they start to push themselves out of the rail.
Jason rang another rx guy and asked them if they\'d problems with the kgparts rail and turn out that they had (not sure if it was the same prob or not). Either way this rail has problems whever it is a one off or not and as a result is no good to me.

hmm maybe the brackets holding the rail down may need modifying then shave a few mil off the base of the brackets so the rail seats further towards the injector holes, or the holes on the brackets moved down to produce the same result of a tighter fit
Remember these cast stock LIMs wont be all the same.
Or use Gary at Rotaryarts his fuel rails of a different design but will let you use the 1680 top feed injectors

Hi, anyone got pics or diagrams of the set up for 1600 k g parts rail, bought mine as a brand new kit off ebay but got no instructions, I have fitted it and it does seem solid but as its part of a complete re-build and power upgrade thats not finished yet, I would like to know if I have fitted it right before I turn the key, thanks Ade :Thumbs-up

its simple dude, just make sure you dont pinch the rubbers at either end of the injector

use a little vasalene and you shouldn\'t have any probs

i had a little problem with mine, fitting the fuel lines, they would not seal and it leaked from either end, tried all sorts but ended up using some resin which solved the problem.

other than that it was all good :D

Thats what i was considering but jason rang me back before i had a chance to order with an idea of developing his own rail of some kind, so thats what i will be haveing. I wonder if he\'s decided this cuz he was building a high boost engine when i was in.

Tell him to dowl it then, cus Carl always says that you can go above 1bar without a dowelled engine.
