Title: Rear inner arch plates cracking - FB
Post by: David Nock (RIP) on July 09, 2008, 12:40:23 PM
I\'ve noticed that the inevitable is happening! The rear axle tie rod front mounts are starting to develop what looks like stress cracks on the inner arch reinforcing plates.
I think this affects all the 1st gens sooner or later, so has anyone tackled this? Any good restorers in the North East? I don\'t think it\'ll be too much of a job because I\'ll strip out the interior behind the repair beforehand, just enough to keep it mobile.

Sorted now, found a good resto man not too far away to weld up the reinforcing plates and the inner wing of the tub.
Thanks to Steve Garbutt from MX5 City (Mod on here) for advice.
See pics of what the problem was.
