Title: which water injection kit
Post by: marco on July 08, 2008, 06:26:58 PM
hi everyone!
I have waiting for ages for the new FJO water injection kit to come out, but i am starting to think it is in fact vapourware and will never see the light of day. as such was wondering what my alternatives are for a good WI kit?

the engine is to be a PFC controlled street port with uprated fueling as required and a set of BNR twins, and i want to map for water, not just have it in addition. as such i am guessing to do it right i will need one that can be driven by a 2d map based on rpm and MAP sensor- is this correct or is it a little overkill? also failsafes in case of pressure/flow loss is required.

the Aquamist 2s system looks most comparable to what i am after, if a little expensive. do Coolingmist make anything similar and what kind of price am i looking at for that? or are there any alternatives from other manufactures/ other systems?

as always thanks in advance

Marco

Coolingmist is good for dropping the temps and good for anti det and you will gain some power from the cool temps, but I wouldnt map for it using their stuff not accurate enough.

Aquamist defo is the choice, I have the top of the range stuff HFS 5 kit which uses Injection Duty which is top choice for mapping for water.
2s is good with the rpm and boost.

can you still get the hsf5 kit? or is it under a different name now? i see from FDUK you have the special edition one with the injector summer, so i guess that gives you an added advantage that i wont be able to get (unless i get my soldering iron out and start designing circuits). would the standard 2D kit suffice? as far as i see it the 2s system which allows you to map the WI set up completely must be a step up over the 2d kit, or is it a case of splitting hairs at that point?

yes you can still get the kit, the summer addition was a limited addition, but Im sure Richard Lamb from AQ will probably make you as a one off.
The 2D kit will probably suffice but those kits come with a much less powerful pump

We have fitted lots of WI kits over the years. The quality, design and support avalible from the Aquamist is head and shoulders above the rest. The summers arent on the shelf, but this isnt completely necessary, depending on set-up. For example we dont run a summer on our circuit car.
The cost is more tahn the otehr kits, however this is dirctly relative to the quality of the parst and the design. If you want to know anything more give me a ring, im a bit of a WI geek :)

im looking at the aem kit, it includes 3 nozzels and a progressive controller. its got a couple of safety features as well like cutting boost and a couple of other bits.

Has anybody got any experiance of these?
