Title: Advice on damaged parts
Post by: Locki on July 06, 2008, 04:06:25 PM
Hey guys, I decided to get familiar with the engine and all the hoses today, in the hopes that i could find a reason/cause to my boost issues. I found a few weak joints etc, but i also found something else that was a bit concerning. The air pump appears to have been rubbing against a hose that comes off the air box, and has worn a hole through it :S

http://i323.photobucket.com/albums/nn464/Locki666/100_0194.jpg (http://i323.photobucket.com/albums/nn464/Locki666/100_0194.jpg)

so just some advice if i may:

1.) where can i get a replacement and what do i ask for (i.e part numbers etc?)

2.) could this cause boost issues or is it a completely seperate issue?

3.) when disconnecting the pipes to my intercooler, i found the insides of the pipes and rubber couplers coated in oil, is this normal?

4.) Whilst having a further checkover, i found this under the car:http://i323.photobucket.com/albums/nn464/Locki666/100_0198.jpg (http://i323.photobucket.com/albums/nn464/Locki666/100_0198.jpg) looks as though it\'s been hit quite hard and broken. What is it and where am i likely to get a replacement?

Many thanks in advance guys :Thumbsup!

the bracket under the car i think is just to stop the exhaust falling down if it breaks? also a helps stiffen things up a bit i guess lol, 5min job to replace tho :)

yeah, that\'s what i guessed it was there for. wasn\'t 100% sure though. What about the pipe coming from the air box? anybody know what it goes to and if it is likely to cause any major problems? Thing is, i don\'t know how long it\'s been like that for, i\'ve only had the car about a month now and this is the first time i had all the hoses out and checked it over thoroughly.

The bracket is to help brace the chassis, nothing to do with "exhaust falling off". I am sure someone on here will have a second hand one for you.

Thanks guys appreciate it. m4drx... you got mail m8.

i\'m looking at replacing all the hoses n stuff and had a look round, but I can only seem to find the radiator & intercooler hoses. I will also eventually be buying an induction kit, so that will eliminate most of those pipes anyway.

But that just leads me to one more question (sorry) will my car need tuning up if i fit an induction kit? it\'s pretty standard at the minute, and it doesn\'t have an aftermarket ecu fitted...

Thanks again everyone:Thumbsup!

the limit before you`ll need an ecu and remap is a backbox and induction kit bud, anything else then a mapable ecu and map is require to be safe :)
