After having the car for around 6 months now (albeit not driven much) I reckon it\'s got to be time to check the coolant level.
I understand that distilled water is the way to go but my local garage has only de-ionised water.
Is this the same thing and can it be used to top up the coolant?
It has a picture of a car battery and an iron on the front of the bottle - looked all over it and couldnt see a RX anywhere on it.
Right, done a bit of investigation while at work - lunch hour honest.

seems that either should be OK!
Which I\'m sure will be a relief to everyone who was also going through this traumatic decision. Oh, that will be just me then.
:)
that\'s interesting, anyone know whether battery water kinda stuff you get from Halfords etc is just distilled or de-ionised??(http://mysmilies.ipbfree.com/s/contrib/dvv/sconf.gif)
Si
Heh, had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. The battery water stuff from Halfords is de-ionised, but the descriptive bit lists a whole range of suitable applications, including radiator top up. Either way it should be fine for use as coolant. ...assuming they aren\'t just bottling rainwater :)
