Title: Spangly engine bay bits
Post by: NeilSR on July 02, 2008, 12:51:30 PM
Do they exist for the fc?

Ive seen the usual hoses but no nice chrome/aluminium parts for the engine bays to spice them up a bit, so when going for show and shine competitions the bonnet pretty much stays shut.

Anyone know anything going or anythings thats adaptable to fit?

Do what the Ozzies do on FCs polish the hell out of the existing metal parts in the engine bay and colour code the hoses in a bright colour

Mr Blitz is right :yes  Most of the good engine bays need elbow grease rather than off the shelf shiney bits.  You could send some parts off to be chromed though?

I have also seen people colour code their engine when its taken apart, eg yellow for the rotor housings, black for the end plates etc :) looks neat as the engine is painted when it is apart :)

is it possible to get rid of the standard airbox, air inlet pipe etc then and have something less space consuming. My nova just had a cone filter, i\'ve been told cone filters dont work properly with the FC any one care to shed some light on aftermarket airfilters ? What is good and not good please before i spend hard earned cash on something as much use as a choclate fire guard??

Unless you are running a heavily modified car theres little point in removing the stock airbox -all you get is nice warm air...

The restriction in the stock system is the double 90 degree bend in it, once the air pump is taken out there is lots of space to put in a straight pipe. The stock cold air feed is pretty good, I have changed the stock airbox with a cone filter, not noticed a huge amount of difference, and you will also have to build a cold air box around the filter as the engine bay is really hot, meaning warm air, meaning less power. You do have to be careful with mods to the intake and exhaust on the stock system as it does change the fuel mix and can make it run a bit leaner, I mean when I was in the warm up lane at japshow the cone filter got really hot and I was starting to have idling issues due to the hot air, so be careful!

Hi,
I\'ve got a Aluminium Dual Belt Alt pulley up for grabs in the "For Sale" section.
It\'s also got a Rotor shape cut onto the front of the pulley. Top workmanship take a look if interested.

All the best
Paul

Ben just sure when you remove the stock airbox/filter and put a cone on, remember to leave the air flow meter in place... removing that will mess up your AFRs!
