Title: Removing Dash..
Post by: Aceman on July 02, 2008, 12:26:34 AM
Lots of people talking about redoing their dash in alacantra etc, but has anyone found a guide on how to remove it??

I\'ve heard it\'s only a few bolts, but it looks a much more substantial job than that!!

Sorry to jump on your thread....we have a very nice dash with all the vents working, so if you wanted to leave your existing one in whilst you recovered a dash we only want £35 + VAT for it.

I just used the workshop manual... Its basically 2 bolts on each side, 2 bolts on each side of the center console part.. and one bolt on top of the dash, in the center of the vents on the window... And it\'s a lot of wire connections that are a bit of a pain in the ass to get off... But I did it in about 40 mins or so I think, so it\'s not so bad...

The hardest part for me was to get the speedo console thingy off before I took the dash out, I managed to break it...  but you have to take this of before you can get the stereo/aircon/fan part off...

How much would delivery be to the Guildford area for this? :)

Tempting, but seeing as I\'m pretty much gutting the rest of the car (the whole interior is being leathered) I\'ll hav a go at the dash once the car\'s empty..

If I break it (should be trying this weekend) then no doubt I\'ll give you a shout!!

Excellent guide to getting to that far..

How many more screws are left? Guess it\'s centre console (dial surround and gear surround) and then only a few more bolts?

In breif....

-2 bolts behind the left vent
-2 bolts behind the right vent
-2 bolts behind the passanger knee rest
-2 bolts behind the drivers knee rest
-1 bolt in the centre behind the square plastic cover (which pops up with a flat head)
-2 bolts on the steering column
-2 wiring loom plugs on the passanger side
-1 wiring loom plug on the drivers side
-Then any aftermarket wiring looms (you may find random ones you never knew you had...)

AFAIK....
