Here is something that I\'ve been working on for the last few days.
Took me just a bit over 5 hours to do one side and 2 hours to complite the other side. The lights will go on the car tomorrow so will update as I go a long.
What do you think?
these look fantastic...well done :Thumbsup!
are you planning to do few?

Why not :)
give me the 99 spec rear lights and I\'ll make you something simular.

They do look good. Nice to have them in LEDs instead of bulbs too.
Nice, they look really good :D
Was thinking about doing this myself, but wanted to make them corvette style so you may have just given me enough inspiration lol
Now that is real nice :)
Where do you find the details for voltages etc that they lights would have to work with?
How about required light levels etc?
I\'ve been meaning to do something along these lines myself (especially as my centre brake light cluster isn\'t working atm) - but haven\'t had a chance to look up the operating/conformance specs...
Very tidy work, did you just buy the raw LEDs or find a multi led circular lamp thing with the cluster already in. might have a go my self! haha

Ah dw dude, we all know you\'re the original & always will be ;).
Nice lights maz- bound to be a hit.....
They look really cool for a homemade job :Thumbsup!
Wow! Very nice!
thanks, they do look very cool.
Sorting the voltage problem now.
Did second testing today and they look even better.
will post some pictures later today.

That\'s a seriously tidy job, well done, must have been a pain mounting the individual LED\'s if that\'s how you did it.
Just had a thought, I bet the Lamborghini LP 540 style would look good, and make the job easier too.

Heh. was a bit easier then that.
Here is another pic of the car with LEDs at the back but not properly fit in yet.
What bulbs did you use to get the diff between the side & brake lights maz??
I\'m going to be doing LED rears over the winter but didn\'t know what to do to get the light difference ???

I have to ask - did you make the led rings, or did you find them on the \'net somewhere?
I\'ve just spent an hour or so searching google + ebay (UK + US) - closest I could find was some Corvette C5 rear LED halo lights - but they cost about $300, and you only get 4 lights
Alternatively, I found some Hella individual halo\'s - at 70 quid a pair (so 210 for the set) - and that doesn\'t include the lamps for the centers....
i do like the afterburners... awesome :D
how much are u gonna charge per set :P :D
Its still being developed. Drop me an email to a.tserenia@gmail.com and I\'ll be happy to discuss it with you.

LogicalChimp, sorry not ready to share the secrets of where I\'ve got the LEDs from at this stage :) but drop me an email and I\'ll give you some guidence etc.
I\'ve also hit the brick wall with the project getting right resisters for the indicators. Everything else works fine and lights will be ready to go in to production while the problem is sorted.
The asking price shouldnt be more than £250 per set.

So are these modelled of 96 spec lights as a base or 92 spec?
Those are 99 spec lights but if you\'ve got older version rear light I\'ll be more than happy giving it a go and design something diferent for older version.
Actualy I might buy 92 spec lights and experement if anyone got one for sale or want to send me theirs.
Maz
logicalchimp have a look on ebay for led\'s here\'s a guy i\'ve used befor excellent service everytime, http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/amigoofchina/ if that not working just goto ebay and type in amigoofchina,
An idea anyone may consider is to use clear plastic/acrilic drill out rows of holes in the shape you want and mount the led\'s in that, behind the standard colour lens, glued in aprox 4-5mm behind and the lens-this way you will only see the led\'s lit and all will apear normal when off.
If your not feeling so adventurous about making your own clusters, then maplin do cluster led\'s that you simply conect to a + and - and mount into the light, here http://www.maplin.co.uk/search.aspx?MenuNo=12411&FromMenu=y&doy=6m7
Arg :( I was gonna do this to my FC hmm oh well, fab job there :D
Maz13B nice job they look good.
Rob I used those cluster leds, they work a treat, but if anyones going to use them go to knightbright direct for them they cost half of what they do from maplins.
heres a pic of what i did with the LED clusters.
I used angel eye rings with these clusters, also added a fog cluster
its worth having a try yourself if your handy with a heat gun and a dremmel, you can then be exclusive

I\'ll be doing the same on the FC in next 7 days. Will keep you posted.
Thanks Eddie, thanks for giving me the idea on how to make them.
Cheers
Maz :)
Maz13B you have taken it to the next level they look really good, I\'m no expert with a solder gun so have to make do with what i can cobble together, i may pick your brain at some point.
Actually talking about picking you brain how about the blink rate of the indicators, how did you combat the increased rate due to lack of resistance in the circuit, I was considering hiding a bulb in the boot to add resistance, I know its a bit of a cheat but as I said no good with electronics.
Looking at yours a may revisit mine and try something a little more bling:) its been 3 years now since i made mine and its nice to see people making stuff it gets the old creative juices going.
Jobs a good one keep the pics coming.

Hi Eddie I always wondered about the maplins lights for their brightness (they even once had a Q/A part on them saying they were not bright enough for road use) But hey no MOT problems at all? :) and who are Knightbright? did a quick google but found no urls :rollin
sack that i found em :)
Hi mate they are bloody bright, never had a comment from an MOT person about them not being bright enough. if anything maybe a little too bright, you can see them glowing up the car behind when you press the stop peddle.
cheers
Eddie, regarding your flash rate problem, a lot of the firms selling LED bulbs on eBay and the like also sell resistors that you splice into the circuit to basically make the load the same so that the flash is slowed down to the correct rate http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Indicator-Rear-Stop-LED-Light-50W-LOAD-RESISTOR-Kit_W0QQitemZ360067233306QQihZ023QQcategoryZ9895QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
(like these). I\'ve had LED replacement indicators on bikes before, and they usually come with a little in-line resistor that you can plug in or not depending on whether it\'s necessary. Also in the bike world, so I dunno if the equivalent is available for cars, is a replacement flasher module, usually only a few quid. These just work on a lower resistance than the stock one, so again evens up the flash rate. A few options there for you to investigate, maybe, hth
Or if you\'re feeling up to it, get yourself a variable resistor, and solder it inline on the positive wire - then just twiddle until you get the right \'flash\' speed
At least, I think it would work - still waiting for my new soldering iron to turn up...
I\'ve solved the flash problem now and light going on the car tomorrow. Will post more pics.
Will also take fc lights off tomorrow to start working on them.

Aren\'t these up for sale on eBay atm, mate? Whats with that?
Quote from: Nik da Greek;515221Aren\'t these up for sale on eBay atm, mate? Whats with that?
They are for sale on ebay. Whats with what?
I just wondered how come they\'re up for sale already when you\'re still working on them. No big deal, it just seemed a bit odd. The photo you used on the auction showed them doing different things on each side, and I wondered if anyone out there in eBay-land who hadn\'t read this thread would want to go large with their wallet based on that photo. I\'d have thought you might have been better putting them up for sale on here or the other site, is all?
Thanks for the curiosity. I have had 2 people who came and looked at them from ebay.
The picture just shows the diference between the original and new light. Plus if anyone from ebay wants to know more information they can always call me and ask through ebay.

here is a link to an MR2 specialist who made some afetrburner LED`s. I used to have them on my MR2 a fair few years back.
They sell the LED rings etc seperately if its any use to anyone :)
