Post by: uk-kent-rx7 on July 01, 2008, 06:17:53 PM
Hi people,

My RX-7 has a rear main oil seal leak, which i think involves taking out clutch/ gear box etc to get to it!! Anyone else had this?
How much am i looking at cost wise??

Any advise please

Cheers
James

The oil seal itself costs around £15 (Thats what I paid at my local Mazda)  The old one comes out easy enough and they are very easy to push in.

The price is going to be the labour to drop the gearbox & remove clutch & flywheel to gain access to the old seal and then put back on again, not sure how long that would take?

If you have all the tools and some patience you can do it yourself. It\'s not that difficult. However, it\'s probably quite unlikely that you have a socket big enough for the flywheel nut.
