Title: What can cause battery drain?
Post by: <--rYaN--> on March 16, 2004, 11:37:23 PM
I have a new battery and it seems to drain itself over the period of sunday-friday if i dont drive it. Apparently the alternator and battery etc is good so it must be and electrical short somewhere. I leave my clifford alarm in valet mode most of the time as the wind is setting my alarm off a lot, would this drain it possibly?

Any other areas to check? Dont suppose bad grounding or anything could cause it?

Thanks

Ryan

first thing to do will be to check the drain.

Whack an ammeter on it and see the drain, the alarm should drain milliamps, But if you are drawing more then a few amps, ill start lookin for faults then.

It may be your battery.

This may or may not help.  My 306 had a similar problem. after a couple of new batteries and checking alternator etc I had to call an autoelectrician, £40 call out charge + 30p for a new battery terminal :rolleyes:  I felt like a right muppet, but the terminal had apparently corroded.

Not had any problems since. It may be worth checking.
