Title: are you lowered on 18"s? pics please :)
Post by: JohnP on June 30, 2008, 11:17:44 AM
Alright guys :)

Just got my hands on a set of 18" KEI D1\'s for the rex, and was wondering if she will be happy lowered without any wheel-arch-bending.

Back looks like it would be fine to drop... but front looks tight to me.

pics of rex\'s on 18"s dropped please :)

Mine\'s on 18\'s with RS*R springs and unknown Japanese shocks.  I don\'t know how low it is, but I would probably say it was slightly too low as it does rub if I hit a hard enough bump while turning.

Gary, you car looks amazing, and you\'re not very far from me (Daventry) by the looks of things.

Cheers od404 have seen your car about in Dav once or twice will have to meet up sometime, you have probably met my family as they all work at Cummins!

Mine is set to low to as the bumper has scrapped on a couple of speed humps, doesn`t rub on turning though!

Meeting up sounds like a good idea, there\'s three of us in Dav.  Myself and John (Warthog), and someone else with a Montego blue fd.  Quite a pocket of owners.

I probably have met some of your family, the surname certainly rings a few bells.

Sitting on 18" Andrew Racing Veilsides..

About the best view of how low it is I can find..

We couldn\'t go any lower at the front without rolling the arches.. Wheels don\'t rub on full lock etc.

To give you some idea of when there\'s someone in the car (although not the best angle):

Thats exactly what i was going to do with mine!
as iv got Kei D1\'s and a white fd too.
Shame the thing blew up the other week, so i have to put it all on hold.
I will have to think of a few different ideas now, as i dont want to be a copy :-) lol probably put the OEM skrts on instead of the feed ones.

I really need to lower mine.. i feel like i\'m running on stilts now :D

but it was a long term project when i got her, bodywork a bit tatty here n there, but it\'d only done 28k miles on an M plate 1994.

not the best picture (that what i get for waiting until nearly 21:00 before taking the shot :p)

Fronts are 225/40/18, rears are 245/40/18.  Car hasn\'t been deliberatly lowered, but due to 16 year old springs is running about an inch lower than it should...

Hehe no worries, they\'ll probably not be seen together :) Spoiler is now a low-profile Feed copy, just needs some paint on it but looks 100% better than stock!

Wheel diameter on it\'s own is unfortuantely very little help :(
To work out any clearance issues you need to know tyre width and profile, and wheel offset, as well as what suspension you are running, and arch moods (if any)

Mine is also running on tired springs which causes the tyres to rub on the lowest part of the inner wings, (rubber away in certain places).

Picture is not ideal but you get an idea of wheel arch to tyre height.
