Finally got the FC on the dyno today for a bit of a play. some new plugs sorted the non starting straight away.
However, some things became apparent very quickly.
1) Low idle, around 500 - 600 rpm. I presume there is a manual idle adjustment but i\'m dammed if i can find it
2) Boost pipes blowing off, more Mickalor clamps needed.
3) I have no boost control. Was hopeing to just run off actuator pressure. However it keeps wanting to go 1 bar plus. Have tried feeding a pressure source and no pressure souce to the Trust external wastegate but still no control. Does not help that i have no idea what this particular wastegates actuator pressure is. Also it seems to only have one control pipe off it. Which is strange for an external.
4) defo got a ground problem with the instruments. Fuel guage is stuck at top and water temp goes to top about 30 secs after starting. Even though the PFC is seeing normal temps.
My friend took a couple of pics of the car, i\'ll try and get them up.
Cheers,
Charlie.
For the idle - did you keep the BAC valve on the side of the upper inlet manifold? - if you did, then there is a small screw in the side of that - should be able to adjust idle on that. If you\'ve taken that off, then you need to control how much throttle is open at idle, or provide a controllable bypass for the idle.
You\'ll only be able to control boost down to spring pressure - so if that\'s set really high - you will only be able to control it \'up\' from there :eek
As for the gauges - have you stilll got the stock water temp sender and stuff in the car? Water temp runs off the back of the water pump neck (under where the stock intercooler used to be). The fuel gauge - that could be wiring or the sender in the fuel tank is missing a wire. You changed the fuel pump assembly at all ? The fuel sender is just a resistance to ground. If it\'s shorted to ground it will read Full.
Hope that helps...
Cheers prof, still have the BAC, so will find the screw on that and have a play.
I\'ve tried putting the other pump assembly on the car and it still goes to max, with the water temp thing as well, i\'m thinking there must be a ground somewhere i\'ve not connected. The water temp sensor is connected and reading because i\'m getting good readings on the Power FC.
Will also try and get it MOT\'d this week as well.
Remember to do all the safety mods first before increasing boost, you need to uprate/rewire the fuel pump, uprate the HT leads (FC leads are getting rather old) also with any extra power, uprate the pads and disks and you definatly need to get a good boost guage, pay a bit more for an accurate mechanical one. If you over boost or can\'t tell if you are getting boost spikes, that might be a £3,500+ mistake
Prof, you around this Sat? Could do with a hand trying to sort this idle issue.
Free door and wing in it for you ;)
Cheers,
Charlie.

I\'d love to, but I\'m not sure I will get time this Saturday as we\'ve got something on all day - very remote chance I can get out for an hour.
Failing that - Friday after work, I finish at 3.30, could be at yours by 4 - 4.30 ish
Could do Thurs after work as well as a possible, or might have some time on the Sunday.
Friday around 4 - 4.30 could defo work Prof.
Can you email me over your number just in case my Friday afternoon customer overruns?
Cheers,
Charlie
Its ok Prof, problem solved, i had a good look at it yesterday afternoon and got my head round it, it was a plumbing problem lol. Also swapped the instruments which seems to have solved that problem as well.
There is still a free door and wing sitting at mine for you though ;)
Glad you got it fixed. I\'m still up for coming just to have a look to be honest - not seen it with the engine in :)
I\'d be more than happy to slip you some beer money for the door/wing - Is Friday afternoon still good ? I\'ll email my mobile number to the SRR email addy.
Good to see you Prof. Hope you managed to get those connectors off lol
We found a couple more things at the weekend:
Defo a 1.1 bar spring. Going to try and get a new one sorted next week
The fuel pressure keeps fecking off when it comes on boost. I think it might be a pump ground issue, going to play with the multimeter this week and see what i can come up with.
Check the voltage at the fuel pump - not sure if you\'ve rewired the pump, but the stock wiring leaves a lot to be desired and pump voltage could be low. If you\'ve kept the resistor in circuit, then you\'ll have around 9-10 volts on idle (warm engine) and should be 12+ on load.
If you\'ve put an aftermarket pump in, depending on the type of pump it may draw more or less current than the stock one - for pumps that draw more current, the bad wiring will make the problem worse.
