can anyone tell me what is so special about the 1999 type r bathurst r, and give me the specs like the power etc and what seperates it from the type r and rs models thanks...
Here you go, follow this link for the 3rd Gen model guide

so whats the best rx7 to get then that will hold its money.
type r
type rs
type r bathurst r
type rb
type rz
type x etc
I\'m not sure any of them are holding their value in this current market.... :D
Mine is...cos its so nice :D
well is a 1996 rz worth more than a 1999 bathurst
think youll find its more down to condition than model of fd for the price....
personally i dont think any particular model is more sought after than any other....the cars just dont have that type of following...davehg is right...comes down to what your looking for and condition....Rz\'s have the kevlar recaro buckets which are quite sought after....apart from that not a lot more....personally i would buy a later spec car over an older one (16 bit with simplified rats nest) now if u were talking sierra cosworth i would say get an rs500...20k now buys u 1....
Spirit R will hold its value the best
Spirit R or a type RZ are the ones to go for if you are after an investment (it\'s all relative though!)
However, That\'s only really relevant if they are stock to be honest - an RZ missing things like the seats and wheels is a LOT less attractive.
The RZ (ahem, like mine I am selling :D) also has Bilstien suspension and much larger brakes, front and back, compared to the other models, I think the RS may have some similar parts but definately not the R Bathurst. It also has the cool alloy passenger footrest, extra kneepad on the drivers door and a couple of other bits.
http://www.rx7.net.nz/fd-jp-models.html (http://www.rx7.net.nz/fd-jp-models.html) shows the differences, and also the original prices, which although not entirely useful in todays market, shows that the R Bathurst was at the cheaper end of the scale. Feel free to contact me if you want more details.
PS...mine is totally complete, a late, 16bit spec model, in great condition and the engine is strong and reliable!:3gears-rh:yes
Speaking as the new owner of a black Bathurst X with red leather which was advertised on this site I thought the following might be useful in your decision.
I think the later 99 spec front looks really good, I am sureyou know this but above all else you have to appreciate that the engines do have to be re-built more often than conventional engined cars so in some respects a very recent rebuild was one of my priorities, the information in this forum is first class, I have been browsing it for ages and all my decisions to buy an RX7 came from information and opinions from here. Despite having a budget of three times what I paid for the car I look on buying an RX7 as no investment but a means of driving one the most alive and responsive cars I have owned (I am a long term Lotus owner had an M5 when they first came out and had one of the first MR2\'s in the country as well as many many high performance Japanese cars) I very much doubt if when I get fed up with it (3 years is my longest so far) it will return anything other than a loss but I will have really enjoyed myself in the process. One other important factor in a decision is that if you buy a car advertised on this site in most cases you can trace a fair bit of its history which again for this type of car I consider to be important.
