Title: Rear seats in a FD?
Post by: andeh on June 28, 2008, 07:15:23 PM
I\'ve been looking for an FD for some time now and have come across a few advertised which appear to have \'small\' rear seats in, something i\'ve not come across on test drives or in friends cars.

How usefull are these seats? do they have belts etc? are we taking todlers only? Big enough to fit a baby/child seat on?

They\'re good for putting stuff like luggage in. Most fd\'s have rear seats, but tbh my front seats touch the back seats.

same as Timmy...  If you\'re approaching 6ft tall, you\'ll want the front seat to go all the way back (and more, if you mod them slightly) so they touch the rears.

They have full seal belts so are "safe", and if you need to squeeze an extra body in then the passenger can push forwards and someone can contort into the back...

...Or have them sit side saddle between the two is kinda comfy for shorter distances.

But their best use it for carrying takeaways, where the contents of the bag will site nice and snug allowing you to get home that bit quicker while it\'s still warm :D

There even a bit small for luggage. A bag needs to be 17" long or less to fit into the seat "bucket".

I\'ve been in the back of an FD in the rear seats and it\'s fine, especially for short distances (and short people :Giggle). It puts your knees up by your ears, mind. It\'s essentially a bench with two holes cut into it.

I\'ve got rear storage bins in mine, and to be honest, the major difference between the two is that the storage bins have lids on! Good luck finding one you like though, and remember you can always change them for bins at a later stage if you don\'t like them :Thumbs-up

Cheers for the feedback guys, i shall have to look a bit more carefully at  the classifieds in the future as i had assumed that they all came with the bins :2eek
