Title: what to go for next...
Post by: sickboy2345 on June 27, 2008, 08:25:10 PM
ok i know there have been some posts about it but none of them tells me what to do ...

basically i got rid of all the faults (apart from new brake disc - i think)

i want to start moding it,but:

i was gonna buy FMIC this month but just spoken to few people and they said that this is a bad thing to go for as first...

why? wel im trying to find out what you guys think. My car is pretty much stock, apart from intakes and radiator.

i have got a boost gauge, oil temp gauge and water temp (still not installed but i will do it once i get the sandwich plate and pod for my boost gauge)

so ok lets say i have got all of that in my car already, what should i go for now and why? why not FMIC(apparently my engine is going to blow up)?

what i have been told that the first thing after all that should be an apexi power fc, then downpipe and then FMIC, fuel pump...and ..well lets go through this first..

what do you guys think?

The reduced intake temps from running a fmic will give you knock. It depends what you want to spend but what ever your next mod is you will need a pfc. I personaly would go for a sensible exhaust and a remap. Best to do it in stages and putting as much on as possible in any one go as each time you do something the map will need adjusting.

I agree, I\'m no expert at these things but I can\'t see how you\'ll avoid the need for a PFC with any power mods (and you wouldn\'t get the most out of them without one anyway).

I would have thought a de-cat/exhaust combo (inc. downpipe if you can afford it) should see you right, you might then be in uprated fuel pump territory if the breathing mods take you that far.

After that, I guess its intercooler and radiator mods (for power and safety), it\'s then that the routes diversify - FMIC or V-mount, water injection, single turbo, uprated twins... lots of choice! :)

I may be being a bit thick here but, can you do a re map with a stock ecu? Is it just a case of getting it plugged in by a specialist and they can tweek it to suit.

the only people with that kind of equipment are in japan, pfc is the best option.

FC ECUs are read only, you could just change the chip, but its probably easier to just get a chipped ECU like a knightsport one, or get a Greddy E-manage, or indeed an Apexi commander for the FD

I\'ve got myself a Knight sports ECU but its over-fueling so was wondering if someone like WGT would be able to do something with it.
Sorry for the thread hi jack

you could get something like a safc and trim the fueling back.

I don\'t think Knightsports or any of the other Jap tuners are programmable over here, I\'ve not heard of anyone able to do it.
