I\'ve mailed Tein this morning about the coilovers refurb, not good news it seems :(

Now, I don\'t know if the Superstreets are going to be enough for what use I have planned really. Need to do some research, of course I don\'t necessarily need Tein as I\'m not a total Jap make fanboy :Tongue1
Anyone with decent track/race experience have any suggestions?
................
Try driftworks coilover system mate, I have a set on my s14 and definately plan to get a set for one of the FD\'s.
Good for track, drift and really comfortable too just for daily driving. Retailing around £700 delivered (If my memory serves me correctly). So not a bad price at all.
What are you intending to use the car for?

Track, maybe try my hand at sprinting or some form of amatuer race series.
Sorry, is it just me that finds that response pretty aweful? Just a total sales pitch rather than fixing something that\'s potentially fine and already working in a car that you know works fine IYSWIM.
Seems crazy to me, if you happy with the car as it is, why you have to go and change everything again :?

Unfortunately nowadays we live in a disposable society. People cant be bothered fixing as labour costs out weigh actual costs.
I do completely agree though, if that was the response I got then I certainly wouldnt be too impressed. Hence why i\'ve suggested a different make of coilovers as if thats the Tein response I really wouldnt want to give them anymore of my money.
Also, I think if you had a race car for example, that you have put a lot of time and effort into getting "just right", then you just want the damper refurbed, as everything is fine so no need to upgrade etc... I\'d be pretty miffed that you\'d have a load of handling work to sort again :/
However, just had a look on Driftworks (thinking about changing my suspension at some point) and there\'s only Teins available for the FD, not their own one (which is available for the MX5). Am I missing something?

Yeah, sorry should of said. They\'ve actually got the FD suspension available to order but it\'s not on the website as yet. Driftworks is very nissan orientated but I really cant fault the quality and handling of the driftworks suspension on my s14. As soon as money permits i\'ll be ordering a set for the FD as in my opinion they far out way the teins. Plus the back up and support is excellent too, which is always a good thing.
Ah, cool. Very good to know and a great spec, big monotube design... Very cool, cheers for the info.
No probs! :D

I wasn\'t impressed to be honest, but felt it wasn\'t worth my time replying back! lol
Like others have said, I think it\'s a pretty crap response. They\'re not even comparing like for like - the HA\'s cannot be compared to Super Streets!!
The driftworks coilovers are just rebranded Ground Control coilovers are they not?
Ground control have a pretty good rep. in america apparently though.
Personally, if I were you and planning on using them hard for a long time, I\'d think about avoiding a common-slightly-cheaper jap make like Teins, JIC Magic, Megan Racing, etc, (and to some extent Cusco and Zeal).
The reason being is that when you look into it, the manufacturer\'s often dont offer rebuild services and spout the same kind of malarkey as in the above letter, and that they really aren\'t designed to last forever (prob not even 2 years -hard use).
Maybe try some more motorsport orientated/larger companies like Leda, Bilstein, AST or Ohlins. This may seem like the most expensive option now, but if you can get decent coilovers rebuilt and really get to know them (what setups work for you on the track, etc) then you\'ll be far better off.
Tein rebuild in the UK ;) As do the likes of HKS - I belive Cusco as well.
And i CERTAINLY wouldn\'t put Megan Racing in the same league as any of the above! They are generic eBay tat with little to no R&D IME.
DW Coilovers are not grGround Control, they are HSD :)
All coilovers will need regular servicing and rebuilding - people seem to buy them as fit and forget items - they\'re not. If you want solid, reliable setups you need to look at the likes of KYB for a shock and spring solution, not a full on coilover.
