has anyone done a rebuild on their T11 front and rear calipers?
is there a write up?
thanks
Mark
No, but its on my list of things to do. So I wouild be interested too. Not that it should be that hard to be honest.
Mazdatrix do rebuild kits - I was going to be doing this as well on my front\'s and rears. I was kind of hoping the kits would be self explanatory, but I believe the US sites have write ups for how to do this.
Found this for starters:
http://www.rotorwiki.com/index.php/FC_Maintenance
Is there any advantage in using FD calipers on the front apart from the size?, They just directly bolt on don\'t they?
Apart from the calipers sticking occasionally - the FC ones are pretty good from what I\'ve read - so no real advantage unless you go mental power - but then you\'d probably want 8 pots on the front anyways.
thanks Dave i have a look on rx7club there was a couple of bits but all the photos had been removed so i thought i would ask about here
Mark
i have fd front calipers, though when it comes to fc\'s i know nothing else. Personally i think they\'re good but they dont seem to be as good as the brakes on my sisters 03 clio...but thats probs lighter
just thought maybe we can get a group buy put together on some rebuild kits from mazdatrix?
seems like a few of you are planning on doing this?
im in no hurry need to pick the calipers up yet
Mark
Its not worth rebuilding the stock FC calipers, FD Ones bolt straight on and use the same pads but just dont seem to sick and bind like the FC ones. By the time you have imported a kit, and bought any new pistons you may need you could find a pair of good fd calipers. They are supposed to work a little better but the main thing is not siezing when you dont drive the car for a month.
Do FD calipers fit on the back of the FC though? I thought they didn\'t?
fronts only, are they that bad a siezing?
im doing a conversion on my FB so going to 4 ports is a big improvement, im only going to rebuild them because i have the time to do it and it makes sence really, ive not even picked them up yet so i dont know how bad they are, i know they were used on a car untill recently

www.brakeparts.co.uk (http://www.brakeparts.co.uk) can get service kits for £12.35 a caliper and pistons for £11.43 each if you have any dodgy ones. They show up as out of stock when you \'add to basket\' but I emailed them and they are available.
Before you remove the caliper, first take out the pads and pump out the pistons right to the discs to make sure they all move. It\'s a lot easier to free them using the hydraulic pressure and they should come the last little bit easier.
Hope this helps.
nice one thanks
i bought two recon ones for 130 each. i did maybe 3k on them, now they are sitting in the garage.
offers??????
hi jason, i just brought all 4 for £50 not picked them up yet if they are naf i will give you a shout
how it going, did you sell the FC?
Mark
still got it. need to sell really. im good. see ya at rs5. id do a good deal on the callipers if you end up needing them.
thanks pal should be picking them up next week, bring the FC along for sale sign someone will give you a lift home :Thumbsup!
Mark
ok so i now have my FC calipers, pulled the pads out today (yellow EBC\'s nearly new any good?)
when i pulled them out it seems i have 2 different sets of pins, one calipers has 2 clips that go in the pin between the caliper and pad the other has 1 big clip that sits outside the caliper through both pins and clips inside a hole in the caliper?
i also need to replace 1 of the pins are these avaliable?
found just 1 sticky piston and it free\'d up in the vice no problem so quite happy for the money:Thumbsup!
will get some pictures tomorrow sure that will be better than my jibberish!!!
Mark
i have drilled a new hole in the pin so that should be ok now but if you can get them it would be handy
here are a couple of pictures of the different set ups
Mark
could do with new pins myself but if you are desperate for some then i have a few kicking around. Might even take one down to my motor parts shop and measure one up, sure something will be the same size.
doh, my grandad has the kit to make these will give him a shout, may be worth getting a few done then!
Pete do you have info on the different clip set ups?
Mark
So where is cheepest for re-build kits for the rears then?
the clips are that there are two stainless ones, one is longer than the other, as long as they are held down by the pins. there should be little stainless clips that the ends of the pads push into. I will get some pics if needed.
As far as the highlighted bits in yellow then I have only seen the pic on the left. The stainless bit of wire simply holds the two pins together to stop them falling out. Not seen the right hand setup, may have been adapted. To be honest as long as the pins are secured in somehow then it should not matter but I always like to keep things standard as poss.
it will do the job just seems odd that the 2 calipers are different, didnt know if mazda changed the set up at some point?
the caliper with the 2 c clips dont have holes in the pins at the ends (to let you have the first set up) they look like orgional pins too, like i say not going to loose sleep over it.
do you have any pictures off a t11 brake master? looking to swap this also providing its not to difficult
thanks
Mark
takes about 30 mins for the servo, 4 nuts inside the car and undo the pipes.
No problem in fitting them just wonder if you know of any difference between the Fb and Fc ones, i will have a look at RS5 should be plenty of Fc\'s :yes
Thanks
Mark
also noticed my front calipers have 2 bleed nipples is there any difference to bleeding these or do both need to be bled? are they ment to be 9mm?
thanks

Use the top one for when you are just bleeding the pipe system, but if you\'ve had the caliper off - use the bottom one, so that you can get shot of any air pockets / bubbles in the caliper itself.
thanks Dave :Thumbsup!
you all set for RS5?
Mark
I\'ll be there with the car - but not sure how far along the list of jobs I\'ll be :)
Got a new hood ordered - and plan to get the car sprayed - but that doesn\'t look like it will be before RS5 now. Still - most if not all the performance mods will be in - except the electronic adjustable suspension - that will be for next year now.
I\'ve ordered two front caliper rebuild kits - so I\'m hoping that isn\'t too long a job to do.
excellant a guniea pig, plenty of picture please mate :Thumbsup!:yes:Giggle
i dought i will rebuild mine untill winter now, need to get them beed blasted first and order the conversion kit, and find some 4 stud hubs!!
be good to see the progress with yours though
