Title: Getting water injection, do I need anything extra?
Post by: lockwood77 on June 25, 2008, 11:09:45 PM
Think I\'m going to get/fit myself a water injection system, probably Cooling Mist as I don\'t want to shell out for the whole Aquamist setup and I won\'t be tuning to it, it\'s simply a safety feature to help on hot days.

Apart from getting a water tank to go with it, do I need anything that doesn\'t come in the kit to fit it? As far as I can see you get everything you need - I\'m thinking the Deluxe 150 will do the job: http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmain.aspx?pid=01250TBF

Any advice from those that have done this already would be most welcome! :)

Depending on where you plan on mounting the pump and all the associated gadgetry you *could* just use your rear washer fluid reservoir. I believe the European model FD\'s came with a massive tank, it\'s already fitted and out of the way too.

I haven\'t fitted my 1s system yet, I\'ll be getting that done on the 10th. I\'ll be using the front windscreen fluid reservoir for mine (was contemplating a fuel cell in the boot, but oh well..)

I bought the UK rear washer bottle....it is enormous !!! Holds more than 5 litres !!!! Agree it fits in the stock position nice and easily, I only had to block holes up in it which was easy enough. But it cost me about £120 from Mazda !!!! Not cheap but hardly ever needs filling up.

I have the dual stage cooling mist kit. The only extra thing I\'d recommend getting is a switch to turn it on or off and an led I wired in to tell me when it is on.

I\'ve got a spare uk spec washer bottle. £60 plus postage if you want it. Comes with all of the pumps and plugs attached so there\'s not much hole blocking to do.

Also get a twin spark kit, cause the WI will extinguish the flame front in the combustion chamber, so its best to get a twin spark kit so that it produces a good burn, just a thought

I have one of these kits boxed and ready to sell, was using it but never got round to it, brand new never used, from memory I am sure its the 150 deluxe.

Let me know if you would like to buy it, at least its here in the country and you wont get stung for import and stuff.

thanks

Right, keep yer grubby mits off you lot, I\'ve contacted both sellers above! ;)

Twin spark kit, not familiar with that Mitch, I take it that it makes the leading plug spark twice in quick succession from your description?

Having had a read, it seems that the Twin Spark is an ignition amplifier, of which I already have a Mazdaspeed one fitted (I think! Will check, but I\'m pretty sure it is, not just an earthing kit - there\'s a box as well as the leads).

Does the Twin Spark do anything different to the Mazdaspeed one - i.e. does it make the spark longer, or just stronger (which I guess both do)?
