Title: slight missing at high revs...
Post by: prince_of_tokyo on June 24, 2008, 07:46:41 PM
Hi peeps,

got a slight issue. When giving the FD the grannies at around 6 or 7k i can feel it slightly missing and a few pops from the exhaust.

Plugs maybe? or overboosting?

cheers :Typing

First thing to check is plugs, coils and leads.

your right bro, have been told this, have ordered a set of HKS iridium plugs 9\'s and 10\'s then the ignition amp is to follow

Does the twin spark just fit to the leading coil?
And is this necessary on TII\'s aswell?

my advice is find the problem and fix it. do not buy a twin power to "cover it up".

hope you get it sorted

^ What he said, though if you\'re running 500bhp it would make sense to get one.....

i have an ignition amp so im not nocking one i would reccomend it to all as the are fantastic no matter what horsepower however if you get it and it solves the problem or so you think, you still have the problem and if you decided to turn up the power that weak link ma cost you the engine

thanks for all the advice m8, as soon as i get the plugs done ill let you guys know how it gone...

another small niggle is that my boost controller does not run the boost properly recently, i.e. when i switch it off completely it still runs around 1 bar and even when set at .8 bar the boost peaks at just over 1 bar.

its a Greddy boost controller which ive heard are quite shoddy, can you guys recommend any good boost controllers?

Thanks again

When I first had my car mapped I was having ignition break up at high rpms... fitting an igntion amp totally fixed this and I\'ve never had any problems since... also ran colder plugs 10\'s instead of 9\'s and it\'s perfect!

If the boost is not being controlled by your boost controller it could be one of a few things:

1. You have a air leak in one of the pipes going into the boost controller from the wastegate.
2. Your wastegate spring is not working correctly
3. Boost controller is fubared
4. Boost controller pipes are the wrong way round

Blitz boost controllers are very good if you\'re looking to change...

its possible you have a 15psi wastegate spring.
