K after selling my FD iv decided to go for a project FC (moving to the dark side) :D WHOOP WHOOP!!
So after some info really, the engine layout looks totally different to the fd so was just wondering what can be removed, worth uprating, bad points ect..
Iv read that alot of parts can be improved by replacing with the FD ones, what kinda parts are we talking about?
FC`s are single turbos arnt they? lol shows my little knowledge l:King
O n see the huge cover thats over the fan, is the fan belt driven? surely that cn get ripped out and a electric fan cn be installed lol im thinking already of the mods :wave
Have my eye on one the now but the bodywork is quite bad due to it being drifted, not a prob for me but will be looking for a mad wide arch kit if anyone cn pop a few piccys up :) heard nice things about the BN kit?
cheers
Another one finally sees sense! :D
There are a number of differences between the 13bT and the 13bREW and some parts can be swapped more easily than others.
My question would be firstly what are you looking to achieve power wise and what do you intent to use the car for?
Yes the fan is belt driven, but electric fans make a lot of sense.
You can go as extreme as you want really, just depends on how deep your pockets are. I should be getting circa 400-430bhp out of mine but the changes have been quite drastic:
1/2 bridge
Big turbo
V-mount
free flowing exhaust
FD water pump
ECU
etc etc
see these pics for some idea of what\'s been done:
Well my last FD was 350bhp so id want more than that lol..
Really aiming for a show/track car.. how big a job is it to fit a 13bREW into one? just i know more about them lol, the engines currently pushing 350bhp at the mo, unsure on the mods but im finding out as im typing...
Been following your thread bud, really looking nice, and the fc shud be quite a bit lighter id imagine so power to weight 400bhp must feel like a missile!!
Are these engines any more reliable than a FD one? or do they have the same probs?
as stock the 13bT lasts longer (about 80-90k) but whether that is due to it being less stressed with its lower power I don\'t know.
T2REW has basically put a REW block into an FC and it was a lot of work, ports are different, engine mounts are also different I believe, if you want grund you are probably better off putting a 13bRE from a Cosmo in there much tougher (most of the big power drag cars are running variations on the 13bRE)

FCs and FDs stock for stock the FD is lighter.
FDs engine has uprated components so will be more reliable say at 300bhp then a FCs.
The thing that makes a FD unreliable is the rats nest going faulty through years of heat damage.
hmm 20b turbo`d fc lol.. im liking it :P
So whats the weight of a fc then? fd`s are about 1300kg i think..
Iv never had probs with the fd engine was just curious if there was issues on the fc ones...
Any pics of wide arched fc`s? iv seen a few addons in the auctions but there not really wide enuff.. i cn mod them myself if need be :)
I just got my FC (13bt) dyno-ed + tuning @ Re-works with a T04e hybrid turbo and street port at 340fwhp @ 0.8 bar boost. Guessing prob 360-370ish when I turn the boost up to 1.1/1.2 bar, then maybe a bit more when I get the Water/meth injection fitted and the tune adjusted accordingly.
Very happy with it as the car is a bit lighter than standard too.
I know people have got more out of a street ported 13bt with a larger turbo
doing the 13b rew swop is a pain because you have to change all sorts of bits but it is do-able. the loom is the crap bit to make up so id recomend a stand alone ecu.
the fc is lighter than the lightest fd. the reson the fd lasts less is probably because they only use 2 oil injectors insted of 4 like the fc. this was for emissions. id recomend pre mixing and take the OMP off.
antnicuk knows all the mods to make a 13b stronger by using fd bits and id say this is the easiest thing to do. make the stock lump stronger and spend money on making it go faster rather than spending money making a different engine fit.
you only have to look at the aus forums to see the old lump is very potent.:King
or just buy mine. all done and sorted. £5500 cost me 25

lol what figures have you been reading, dont make me crack open my book on weight figures, the lightest FD is lighter by the FC by over 50Kgs.:cool
And the main reason why the FD engine wears out quicker because it puts out more power then stock then the FC. If the REW engine ran at the same power as the BT it would last just as long probably longer
13BREW has better bearings for lub (3 window), better oil and water pathways.
But yes run premix for reliability on high power.
And yes its easier just to modify the existing lump in the FC
:rollin go on then fat boy get it out. the fc is 1250 and the light fd is 1275. the other lard ass ones are around 1300.
some of the 13b rew is made from cheese and doesnt take the heat well. this accounts for 10000miles less the othe 10000 is down to the earths gravity changed from 1991 and there is more friction on the internals of the fd engine :Laugh
im now using helium filled rotors to elieviate the problem :Ladys-man
hahaha u crack me up, hope u r a Rotorstock so we can smoke again together again
i only smoke while making love :Ladys-man:Ladys-man:Ladys-man
yeah ill be there. got the ticket about half an hour ago. looking forward to meet the old faces
