Title: Is it dead?
Post by: civicboy28 on June 23, 2008, 11:09:50 PM
Went for a drive today in the fd done about 20miles and then went to fill up with v power, I hadn\'t been driving it hard.
When I started it it stumbled to life what seemed like on 1 rotor, as it sounded like a tractor! I went to pull away and had no power. I drove it too my mates where it seemed to get better the higher the revs climes.
Anyway she stumbled into life round my mates after a 30min cool down. Then on the drive home I lost more and more power and it wouldn\'t rev. Then it stalled and obviously its now flooded. Now surly if I\'d lost a seal or tip of would start on 1 rotor? So I\'m thinking maybe the coil has broken down?? I don\'t feel its fair to condemn it yet LOL
any advice on past experience would be great

If it is starting cold but not hot it\'s not good news, the compression goes down as it warms and gets worse. Is the idle erratic, if you have a boost gauge is the vaccum stable? If it is one tip you effectively get 1 and a 3rd rotors working. I got alot of vibration too when it happened.

the idle was pretty stable. But I have no boost gauge to see the vacume flicker.
The thing is I don\'t see why it would go when I started the car because its not like it was under boost.
the more I drove it the more it struggled.
Untill it died and flooded.
could it be plugs failed? Although that would probably manifest itself under higher loads I would have thought.
