Is there a plug lead how to out there? I\'m looking to replace the plugs and leads on my FD and it looks a sl@g of a job.
Do you have to remove the throttle body/plenum to get at the coils?(http://www.fduk.org/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Also, Magnecor KV85 or standard Mazda?
Cheers:cheers
can be done without pulling plenum right off but you will have to losen it at the very least not really a big pain but is a bit much for just changing leads if you ask me
You can do it with the, elbow removed, its just fiddly
Easier to jack the front of the car up, put it on axles stands and get to them from underneath for the plugs. Leads are fiddlely.

Cheers, the plugs look pretty easy changing them from below. Just wanted to know if the leads were do-able without removing the plenum.
Fiddly job it is then!
I honestly have no idea how anyone has done this with the throttle body still on! I had to remove the throttle body (not that bad a job), then loosen the oil filler neck as well.
And that was really tight!
i\'ve just done this this afternoon. as usual, what was hoping to be 30min job turned into a 90 minute pita (but i learn more about the car all the time!):
1994 jap import FD
jack car up passenger side, remove undertray, access plugs from below
removed elbow
couldnt get access to coilpack ends of leads
removed throttle body - remove accelerator cable, tps plug & coolant lines (very firmly stuck on - was going to replace with silicone ones but kept kinking, so put old ones back on)
couldnt remove left hand side plug from coilpack
removed oil filler neck completely (loosening it didnt help)
couldn\'t access lower nut to remove completely so removed alternator plug and + wire
oil filler neck gasket was split on removal
used intant gasket and remains of old gasket, seems to be holding fine at the moment
leads replaced with magnecor 10mm leads
old leads post mortem - major corrosion!
start engine - all seems ok and no leaks/misfire at idle
found wife has used all of my gunk degreaser for cleaning the grillpan & sink, hands black & oil everywhere Bah!
All this was done with my 3yr old son \'sorting\' my socket set!
Have yet to take if for a test drive.
yeah - i cant understand how peeps say its easier to get at from top....
how ****ed off was i at myself to find out (after taking her to bits) my sparkplug socket wasnt long enough!!!

Same here, the coil nearest the oil filler was the hardest to get the lead off but the rest were not too bad. I accessed the plug ends from underneath and having the car on stands whilst working on the top saves you a bit of back pain too :D I used the magnecore leads really as futureproofing as my engines pretty stock atm.
Also there is a decent How To with pics for this here: http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/sparkplug_wires.htm
