Right I picked up my rebuilt turbo today but am a bit bothered and need sum advise.
The turbo was a Garrett T04S Jap spec, I had it rebuilt by ITS turbo\'s but failed after 400 mile\'s, loads of in-out play, loads of smoke and leaking.
Sent it to turbo techs and they told me that the tub was badly worn and didn\'t have a 360 degree bearing which ITS told me they fitted.
I told them to rebuild it as req\'d, they replaced the core, fitted 360 bearing and ringed the turbo shaft to help with back pressure, but they\'ve fitted a RS500 compressor and housing?
There is a few difference\'s between the two, the inlet on the new housing is 3 inch where before it was 4 inch, the compressor does look like a 60mm trim and has a 0,7AR housing same as the T04S but I need to now is this change going to affect performance in anyway like boost, flow, lag etc...
I don\'t fancy paying for a remap again!! and another bummer is ive lost the invoice from ITS Turbo\'s gutted!
Any help would be magical
Andy
It will require a remap, basicaly they\'ve hyrbidised it by the sound of it. Or sent you back the wrong turbo.
It\'s deffo the right turbo, The turbine is the same and the exhaust housing is the same as the old tub.
So turbo technics have fitted a different front cover to your turbo? I would get on the phone to both companies as it doesn\'t sound right to me. As above you probably will need a tweak to the map.
yeh just give them a ring, i am sure they will be happy to explain!
Is hard to say without knowing what you had before exactly.....Its not just about inducer size (the front of the wheel)......you need to know the inducer size and exducer size of the turbine and compressor wheel to be certain you have exactly what you went in with!
The fact that you have a three inch inlet as opposed to a 4 inch that you had before wont make a difference, coz all the air still goes through the same wheel.

I know where you\'re coming from dude, the first thing that a noticed was the inlet size, that\'s why i questioned it.
The turbine is definitely the same one, it\'s the original one! The only thing that\'s doing my fruit is the RS500 stuff, I would have thought they fitted the same size compressor, The RS500 compressor is probably the same size as the old one, Im going to ring them monday and ask the question.
It\'s cost me £640 to have it rebuilt i don\'t fancy fitting it and causing anymore damage if you catch my drift!
jesus wept...i could have got you a massive turbo brand new for that money....
Ahh well you live and learn, cheers anyway!
Hi Andy,
Remapping for that sort of change should only be a time charge.

Carl
will going from 4" to 3" not increase the spool time tho?
no..............
i`ll shut up then!
If your talking about the downpipe then possibly.:Thumbsup!
