Title: Wipers acting odd
Post by: Bobbit on June 17, 2008, 03:04:02 PM
My wipers have started misbehaving, they turn on ok but if i click the stick up to switch them off they stop, dead. They dont return back to the rest position unless it wait to turn them off. Also the intermitant does not work, it is they are off, or on with a 2 or 1 sec delay, no 5-7 sec delay. Anyone got any ideas? :Thumbs-up

The wipers on my missus\' old R*n**lt M*g*ne went all mutant like this, intermittent didn\'t work at all, and the first speed worked intermittently! Took apart the switchgear in the steering column shroud, and it was all covered in scunge and grime. Liberally squirted everything I could with WD40 and that seemed to sort them out. With that said, the wipers used to play up on my last FD. The linkages were all manked up and corroded cos it had been stood outside all it\'s life. I had to regularly get in under the scuttle panel and grease them up, otherwise the wipers would get more and more feeble until they started to stall and judder. Need very small fingers to do this, though, not a lot of room under there. HTH
