Title: Intake temps on activity day
Post by: d6277n on June 16, 2008, 10:29:58 PM
Had great fun at the activity day but was having real trouble with intake temps (water temp was ok). At the end of even a brief run I was getting into the high 60s or even 70s. I spent a fair bit of time sat around with the bonnet open and engine off with fans on, in which case I was still in the 60s when it was time to go back on track. I took the car out for a cool-down run on the surrounding roads when I could, but even with that I couldn\'t get below mid-50s. By the end of the day it had completely heat soaked and I was having trouble running at all as it was getting too risky.

Car still has stock cooling and has about 300hp from catback exhaust, Apexi and panel filter. I really don\'t want to spend more cash fitting an aftermarket rad and other bits and pieces. Am I just going to have to avoid trackdays in hot weather?

Chris.

I had peak temps in the low 50\'s but that was only after 4 quickly run blasts of the top course and sitting around not turning it off. Most of the time i was in the 40\'s, on the high speed corner i was in the low 30\'s as it was getting some air. Water temps were great at no more than 86-88 on the gas.
