well i got my engine built by lindop not that long ago. and when i got it back i stoped at the first service when i started the car back up there was smoke and they said it is normal on a new engine! how ever it still dose this and its run-in and mapped and so on.... so i thought it may be the turbos but was a bit odd how it never done this before hand! so could there be another reason?? and did anyone else who has had a rebuilt engine smoke for the first how ever miles?
thanks
steven
ive built quite a few now and they do smoke on first start up after a build due to the oil thats used during the build process but should not smoke after they have been run in. you do get a small puff on start up on some ported engines etc.....
What colour smoke??? What does it smell of??
oil smell, slightly blue in colour

yeah like that!
ok well i hope it is something to do with the turbo\'s, waiting for a new set so shall see once there fitted!
thanks people
steven
black smoke = fuel
blue smoke = oil
white smoke = (can\'t remember)
White smoke normally water which is bad lol, can\'t remember if blue is oil pre turbo or after turbo? Anyone shed some light?

edit: you beat me to it :P
If it is only on startup and dissapears after 20 to 30 seconds then that is fine.
