Title: Dashboard kits
Post by: craigr on March 15, 2004, 02:51:28 PM
Hi,

Does anyone know if these kits will fit on RHD RX7\'s ?

http://www.iptdashkits.com/mazda.html

They do Carbon Fibre and Aluminium versions (or aluminum if you\'re American) and they look very nice. But are dashboards the same the world over ?

Cheers, Craig

just by looking at the picture it won\'t fit

unless I am being really thick which given my total lack of sleep over the past 4 days is perfectly possible :)

Have you tried emailing them or anything. might do a kit for the RHD versions, or be able to tell you where to look for one

yep, mailed them 10 days ago, but no reply so far.

I\'ll give them a call and see what gives.

cool, keep us posted, the aluminium kit looks good :D

If they do a RHD kit could get a group buy going??

yep, will keep you in the loop.

If they don\'t do a RHD version, maybe I can persuade them to get tooling !

Well to me on all of these American kits, the main dial console looks the same as the RHD version. The US cars appear to have the handbrake, etc in the same place too, and the doors are simply swapped left-to-right.

So I THINK the only problem will be the heater control/radio section which is back-to-front.

Yet to confirm though.

I have mails and calls in with 3 providers in the US now. None of them do RHD stuff from stock, but all are considering how many they need us to commit to in order to get some fabricated.

I\'ll keep you posted.

Hi,
They do stick on - so Im told.  The main console (speedo housing) wont fit either tho as the fag lighters on the wrong side.  :(

I went into these when i did my last fd....  i could not find anyone who did a RHD stick on dash.....but please remember these are cheap so will probably look it. I ended going the expensive way and got a mazdaspeed one, i to be honest after looking into the painting option, i might be doing the same again with my new FD project.

Cheers

I\'ve had a reply from IPT at last.

They apparently do indeed do a RHD kit. I have asked for a copy of the blueprint/plans so that I can confirm that everything appears to be in the correct place.

Once I know, I may well order one as a test case to prove the quality, then let you all know.

How do you do that to plastic then Garry?? Wouldve thought that most of the dash panals will melt in the curing process while in the oven???

Interested though :-)
