Hi,
I unlocked and tried to open my drivers door earlier, but although it feels and sounds like the outer handle is connected and working, the door just wouldnt budge.
In the end, I had to go inside the car an use th inner handle to release the door.
Is this a common issue, and are there any easy fixes to this.
Many Thanks.
Easy fix will be a new handle, chances are the lever bit has broke inside the handle so it\'s not pushing the metal rod properly / enough.
But it\'s easy enough to check out, it could just be that it\'s popped off the clip or the lock has popped off the clip. If you pop off the inner door handle cover (just pushed to fit on), then there\'s 2 10mm bolts which hold the handle on. If you take them off (careful not to lose the bolts down into the door!!!) and have a look behind the handle you should be able to spot the problem pretty easily.
GL!!!

Give me a shout if you need a hand with anything Josh!
Ive done mine twice, and guess what yesterday had exactly the same problem. :(
Will be stripping mine apart later also.
I have spare handles if you need any.... only in bristol as well, nikp knows me.
Mine\'s done this a couple of times, I think it\'s an intermittent fault with the alarms\' central locking mechanism. I guess it\'s a solenoid that doesn\'t always fire or something, but just pressing the fob buttons a couple of times usually sorts it out. Might be worth checking, if you\'ve got an alarm with that sort of gubbins fitted?

Bugger. I was down bristol way today. Could do with 2 front wheel arch liners.Mine were destroyed by a combination of the nurburgring and a too soft spring.
i have a pair on the car, not sure the condition though
Hi,
Thanks for all the advice and the offer of the spare handles. I\'ll be stripping them down tommorrow to see what the score is with them, and hopefully it will be an easy fix. It sounds as though the handle mechanism is working, but possibly has come loose frm te door lock.
And thanks for the offer Nik, I may be seeking advice from you soon ref an auto to manual conversion.
Hi,
Quick update. Tried the drivers door today and it opened. Seemed a bit stuck, but is definatley better than before when it wouldnt go at all. Seems my car has a mind of it\'s own.
If the handles are ok, but stiff, get them off, and get some lubrication in there asap! Otherwise they will break. They have a habit of getting tough, and then break. Mine were at one point, took \'em off, and lubed \'em up, and they\'re great now.
Cheers, will do. I\'ll take them off and spray bit of WD40 in there.
I can second what Nik has just said... Exactly why I had to replace mine! D\'oh!!!
the plasic on the handle wears and the metal arm that wraps around the plastic handle bends, once this happens its a bin job... best to try to save it before it goes too far.
Fixed mine
The screw that holds the arm plate down over the spring had become loose and the spring was sitting slightly in the gap where the plate goes, therefore couldnt get enough movement to open the door.
All working properly again now but took 2.5 hours to sort the central locking out again.
