Title: Engine swap, possiable??
Post by: James H on June 09, 2008, 11:57:23 AM
Is it possiable to put an RX-8 engine into my n/a FC, she is needing a rebuild soon & was just keeping other options open as there a few places with low milage rx-8 engines available for half the price of a rebuild & money is tight at the mo, thanks??

You would need the loom, ecu etc and a custom exhaust + all the other ancillaries...

Why dont you just drop a FD lump into it

to be brutally honest - if the car isnt in concourse condition i wouldnt pay for a rebuild - i dont think you would ever see the money again

If you are going to rebuild it anyway, just give it a damn good porting, then spend some money on a set of carbs :yes

You could as ditch the EGI and run the rx8 block on carbs. Would need some custom fabrication on the intake and exhaust side. Plus custom engine mounts, not really sure if they are in the same place. Possibly be able to use the egi mounts if the bolt up positions on the engine are in the same place.

Would be a fun engine :D

in that case, just search for a 2nd hand egi engine and drop it straight in.  you are talking 5k plus for any of the mods you are talking about.
