ok im a complete newbie im only 21, as a kid my step dad (no longer now though) had a n/a then a turbo ii . now i always loves the car and just bought one!!
few questions
i know fd\'s are ment to be rubuilt after 60 odd k, right?
what about a fc n/a when do thye normally need rebuilding??
also where can i get a compression test done local to me (gu17 postcode)
and what results are aceptable on a test?

A FC NA should do over 100k easy and for comp results - i would be looking at something over 8 bar

Welcome to the RX7, NA\'s as grinder stated will do 100K easily, most 120K+ with no problems at all. Whoever does the compression test then make sure that the engine is hot when they do it, gives an accurate reading. If using anything other than a Mazda checker then there are plenty of info to support what you should be seeing as a normal, watching the bouncy needle etc, these bounces all mean something.
With the NA there are plenty of spares available especially in the USA, so the market is good for new, old or upgrade items. Post some pics when you have cleaned it, we all want to see what you have.
i think mine had done 117K when the oil seals started to go
it still ran fine and would rev to the limiter - but was using oil like it was going out of fashion ( it was like a permenant oil change ! )
its a bit like a nostalga trip for me when i get it, cos we had 2 fc3s when i was lil kid!

Plenty of meets and shows to attend, have a few London tunnel runs throughout the year but there will always be somewhere to go and meet especially your neck of the woods.
Welcome matey, recently got myself a n/a fc too sadly the water seal has jsut gone so rebuild on the way, she has only done 81k but heyho!! Def be up for a meet once she is back up & running.

do you want the flash to pass lenses? I have two if you need them. People only take them out to get more air to the aftermarket filter, if you dont have one you will only get all the water and crap going into the bay.
nice car and nice colour, mine is actually a 1988 S4 JDM but converted totally to S5 UK 1989 spec and engine.
i have 1, but the lugs are f£ck£d , so i would love them!!

Meets - There is the Elevetham Meet that\'s on in July - see the what\'s on section - that\'s about 4 miles from you :)
There is also a big Jap car meet in Reading on the 3rd Tuesday of every month - so the next one is 17th June, it\'s held at the Comet Car Park - starts around 7.00 PM (just off J11 on the M4).
There is also a Sunday Meet at Hartney Witney at the Phoenix pub - Jap cars - every first Sunday of the Month 2PM - again nice and close for you :)

I pass you twice a day then - as I work in Reading - and head out on the A30 as I prefer the windy back roads past Hartley Wintney :)

21 at heart ;) you\'ll have to come to one of the local meets - I\'ll be at the Reading meet - come and meet some of the regular nutters ! I think you already know Sy. by the sound of it
i never spoke to him! but i been up wid one of the other team shock members to there meet. my mate is going to come in his s13 poss. i dont think my friends fd3s goinmg to be ready. poss one other in a r32 line!. but yeah mayb convoy there
