Right - now that a bit of poking around appears to have settled my first question, it\'s time to work out what rubber i need...
I\'ve not heard of the current tyres (speedsteel or steelspeed or similar), but i want to replace them with something decent. I\'ll only really be using the car on the street, although a track day or two in the future is possible.
Having read through a number of threads on here, I\'ve seen recommendations for a couple of makes - Eagle F1s, Falken 451/452, to name a couple.
Can anyone suggest/recommend any other good tyres?
Also, I\' did a quick price check on the Eagles/Falkens - but i noticed they were listed as a \'Summer\' tyre - would they be able to handle a British winter? (or a wet British summer, for that matter)
im running dunlop 900`s or summink all round and there great :)
SP9000\'s? Good tyres, I had some I was reasonably impressed with :)
F1 GSD3\'s were just brillinat on the road in wet and dry, but marbled on track.
451\'s were almost as good as the F1\'s in the dry, but not as good in the wet. Survived well on track though.
I\'ve heard nothing but good things of the new Eagle F1 Assymetrics, and T1R and T1s\'s are also very well looked upon.
452\'s are also favourable to most price wise.
P6000\'s are death bringers - I wouldn\'t touch them with a bargepole. I\'ve also heard similar things of Avon ZZ3\'s, but no experience myself.
HTH :)
sp9000 yip dats the ones, havnt sliped yet unless i was trying to do it lol
How about this?

Shoulda guessed at least one joker would post :D
besides - aren\'t they designed for *LACK* of friction/grip? On the flip side - if i can line up the entry right, i shouldn\'t have too much trouble getting in... *cough*
You certainly don\'t want to lose the back end on one of those, lol!
WOW finally a condon in my size *cough* i`ll get my coat...........

Whats a condon?
Is it for delusional people??
i did say i`ll get my coat, im off to spain in 6 hours im aint giving a poop!! lol
i fitted toyo t1r\'s a few months back and they def suit the rex very good imo :D:D:D
another one for T1-R\'s very happy with mine although they haven\'t seen a track yet. Although my regular street wheels have F1\'s on and they are the best tyre for all round road conditions.
My personal preference in the Yokohama a048, I think they are great tyres.
Has a very predictable feel and great grip.

I had a set of ZZ3s on the FC, odd combination of hard compound and fast wearing! I\'m using T1Rs on the Puma and they are fantastic
Another vote for Toyo T1Rs from me. Big thumbs up for \'em.
Falkens will be fine right up until you slightly overstep the mark, then they\'ll just totally lose interest and f*** off towards the nearest hedge without any kind of warning at all. There\'s a reason they\'re cheaper than other performance brands!
I thought very highly of Goodyear Eagle F1\'s, too, right up until the time I went through the central reservation, some trees and a load of fencing with them on! In their defence (arf!) they\'d been fantastic up till then, and it was absolutely p!ssing down stair-rods, but I can\'t quite bring myself to trust em again, probably my problem more than the tyres.

What are the 048s like in heavy rain.
They look like they don\'t have many drainage slots.

To be honest there is not muh difference between me and an 80 year old granny when I drive the rx7 in the wet, so I oculd really advise.

And he\'s not kidding, snails were flashing him out the way when I was last driving along side Brian in the wet. :Giggle
Oh and and my answer is the Eagle F1\'s, track and road, wet or dry....fantastic all round tyre

Which ones? There are several different types - I\'ve heard very good things about the Rosso\'s :Thumbs-up
Another vote for Toyo T1-R\'s here. :)
The Rossos are very very very good
good for both wet and dry
Although you cant beat a set of Dunlop Slicks for the dry and a set of full wets for the wet :D
I run Yokohama A048 all round and I\'ve found them to be marvellous!! Great grip levels and ensure for a fun time in a predictable manner! :3gears-lh
As for in the wet, I just take it easy so have had no issues to date.

I\'m not sure I\'ll check when I\'m next near the car but they are P-zero rosso\'s, and there horrid, they are nice in the warm but in the cold and wet they have bugger all grip, had a chat with a couple of people about this and the general opinion is threre to hard.
what are these like?
