Title: Water Seals going?
Post by: AdrianE on March 13, 2004, 03:22:11 PM
Damn, I think the water seals on my FD might be on their way out.
I\'ve had a lot of fuelling problems with it, trying to get it to run right with the GT35/40 turbo I had fitted late last year.

Just as I thought I had it sorted, I took it out for blast (with boost @10psi max, AFR10.5-11) along a dual carriageway near the M3, and as soon as I backed off the throttle in 5th a load of white smoke gushed out of the tailpipe (I\'m guessing this is water). I stopped checked the water temp (OK at 90C), let it idle for a while and the smoke eventually stopped. I checked the water in the rad and had to fill it with about 1.5L. Funny thing is the next time I drove it, it ran fine and I didn\'t see any white smoke even though I was using full throttle up to 6000rpm! Is this typical behaviour when the water seals go? Can I still drive it (gently) without causing more problems, or should I be booking it in for a rebuild (drat!)?
