Title: What does this mean for us?
Post by: FDAsh on May 31, 2008, 12:40:59 AM
All the fuel worries going on at the moment, I noticed this bit about Vehicle Excise Duty:

"The changes, due to come into effect next year, will mean cars will be put in one of 13 bands from A to M, based on their carbon emissions."

from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/7401788.stm

That applies to vehicles registered after 2001, now does this mean my 1997 FD, which was imported and therefore registered in the UK after 2001 will come under fire from this?

I doubt the engine\'s CO2 emissions will have it at the "A" end of the scale... :reallymad

Date of registration comes off the date it was first registered in Japan, which is 1997.  The date it was registered in the UK doesnt really mean anything other than showing you how long it\'s been in the country.

Nothing to worry about mate.  Although they will probably find some way of screwing us over time.  As is the way of Labour. :(

Ah that\'s a relief then.

Hopefully Labour will be out soon and someone else can have a go at screwing us.

The VED rate for "over 1600cc cars" pre 2001 will arrive shortly at a flat rate of £200 per year, so I have read.
So all FB\'s, FC\'s, and FD\'s will be the same then?
(Unless you\'ve got a v5 showing 1300cc).
