Title: few new odd problems here
Post by: BioMech on May 29, 2008, 03:54:01 PM
Ok i posted about having the secondary boost problem last time. I found the problem and fixed it by changing the charge control solenoid that controls the gate on the pipe.

Ok i had perfect boost for about 2 weeks or so reading like 0.8bar on both turbos. Then it started to happen really. after the 2 week period i noticed that the second tubby droppd the boost to 0.5 bar after the joining point at 4500. it hits the 2nd in and jumped to 0.8 or maybe 0.9 and the dropped down to 0.5 and went like that all the way to the redline.

then, i did the poor mans non sequential as i thought that it may help. well it didn\'t. i still have the mod there as i like it, as long as i don\'t hit fuel cut that has happened 2 times. after the mod, the boost jumps to around 0.9 and then drops back to the mysterious 0.5 bar and that\'s it. where the hell did i loose boost suuddenly??? now it gets the boost up, even a little too high as it has hit the fc 2 times, but still why does it drop it to 0.5 bar and stay there?

the i have noticed that depending on the day and the cars overall mood, sometimes whe i stop to the traffic light and push the clutch down, the revs stay up and drop after a while. they can jam to around 1500rpm or so for a while before they drop again.  what is this allabout?

i changed most of the vacuums hoses (or all) that i could access by removing the plenum, so there is some unchanged intems aswell, but most of the solenoids have new hoses etc

try this site (http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-7/TurboTroubleshooting.htm)

especially this bit

Vacuum Chamber

    * This is a black plastic tank that is buried between the alternator and power steering pump. Kind of difficult to see, removing the Pressure Chamber helps to see it, has one hose connection, and should have a hose attached, (Engine View Picture). This hose comes from the rats nest of metal tubes, and there is a one-way check valve between the rats nest of tubes and the Intake, (the only check valve located between Throttle Body and the Firewall). This one-way check valve can start to leak after a while, causing loss of vacuum to various controls when under boost for a while. A way to troubleshoot this one-way valve leaking is to note a gradual loss of boost and then drop the throttle long enough for your boost gauge to indicate at least 20 inHg of vacuum then slam the throttle back down again. If boost is back up to what it should be then replace this one-way check valve. Basically what this does is "recharge" the vacuum chamber when you let off the gas, allowing actuators to operate properly while the vacuum is still present.

ok so it could be that then. i have removed the pressure chamber all together and the check valve that was related to it aswell. i suppose this is different valve we are talking about here.

do you people know if the valves are interchangable?? so can i use the one i removed to replace the possibly dead one?

i read somewhere that you can get some sort of upgraed or something solenoids somewhere? is this a fact? i found the new solenoids from mazda tricks that are oem, but the price is more like stupid than acceptable.

Also, have you peolpe removed other solenoids or hoses when doing the poor mans non seq? i disconnected the one mentioned on the "manual" of the mod
