Title: misfire on 6k
Post by: sickboy2345 on May 27, 2008, 09:13:12 PM
i have a misfire on 6000 revs, went to mazda dealer and they suspect 2nd turbo is knackered(if so i wouldn\'t be surprised as when i bought it i had 2 intakes blitz-which was ok and HKS muschroom one but without filter in it - just a bracket, so it could have sucked some dirt in it)

but..

just wanted to ask as im still pretty noobie in fd\'s what else could it be? any similar common faults?

thank you

could be a posibility of a few things, i think the first thing i would do is change the plugs and check the leads.

is there any other mods on the car??

also do a quick search for misfire and it may bring up some useful information for you.

i got denso iridium racing (or something) i went through some of misfire threads but the ones i saw was related to spark plugs/wires, nothing with turbos or anything else so i decided to post a new thread

worth checking the coils by taking the leads off one at a time, check the leads as well as changing the plugs, it could be either of these for starters

as above, it could be ignition break up, i have this at 6.5k and the coil pack was knackered

i would recommend magnicor performance leads there about £40 but well worth it, as for the location of the coils on an rx they are 2 black boxes just to the right of the dreaded rats nest under the plenum, if you have trouble follow the plug leads. you maybe able to test them through the leads if you eliminate them as the problem but i\'m not sure. As for the method see if this helps. LINK (http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/l/aa062902a.htm)

i wouldnt recommend anything else but standard mazda leads as would most tuners i think.

if you carnt test them your self either buy or lend a set of working coils and swap them over, if not may take it to one of the tuners??
