Title: OMFG.... it passed
Post by: grinder on May 23, 2008, 10:52:54 AM
This is how MOT\'s should happen

1 - leave car on front garden covered up most of the time
2 - last outting was to the rising sun car show
3 - came home and put the car away
4 - this morning got up , removed cover and drove to MOT station
5 - and it passed :D :D
6 - no prep work , didnt check the lights or anything and it passed .. WOOOHOOOOO !

the only thing he did mention is that the brakes look pitted and the back brakes are tight

but they worked just fine on the rollers and if anything - the handbrake now works sooo much better

looks like they freed it up just by putting a lot of pressure on it for the brake test

so thats it - another 12 months motoring , might tax it later today ( not bad £120 for the year ) - its been insured all ready - so bring on summer and Rotorstock :D

Well done - always a relief when they pass :)

Getting mine all prepped ready for MOT - hoping there are no silly issues this year - and going to try and get it through with the HID\'s in this year ;)

Nothing this time I hope - beam pattern is good, and being the motorised ones, the brightness doesn\'t change on Hi-Beam (had wussy halogen\'s in before)

is that a FC ?

it can be a problem esp with mine purely down to lack of use - one that is used weekly or daily will have no issues with brakes and thing seizing ! :D

I reckon it was that coat of polish I forced you to do at the Rising Sun Show !!
Nice one though Stu, bit of a relief I bet. Mine is on Thursday but the only thing that changed in the last 2000  miles is that I have gone de-cat and the MOT man says that this should not make any difference to the emissions........we\'ll see !!

im sure taking a clean car to the mot make a huge difference

i asked about the front wing and he says its water under the paint and its not drying out - this could be a downside to keeping it covered up :(

My cab passed too a couple of weeks ago :)  It was good to go out for a drive! :3gears-rh I was missing the 2nd gens! :InLove

What\'s the matter with your wing Stu? Are you making sure that you are only putting the covers on when she\'s bone dry? Also that you have some old sheets on her first? Is the paint original there or re-sprayed?

i have no idea about the paint

the cover goes on when its dry - but i reckon its condensation underneath

i only have one sheet on it - and that covers the roof and boot - dont have one over the front

the cover isnt the best fit and if its really windy the sheet manages to slip off the car

i will get some more one day !

the paint doesnt really bother me to be honest - yeah it spoils the look - but for the price of the car - im OK with it

and im not sure if its the original paint - it has had some panels resprayed at one time - just not sure which ones !!
