Post by: Abe130 on May 21, 2008, 07:38:23 PM
Hi guys I have just started my freshly rebuily FD and I was wondering what the normal water temperature would be? Many thanks.

Also what is the job of the air pump?

Alex.

Air pump puts fresh air into the exhaust system to keep emmissions down.

How are you measuring oil pressure and water temp?
My stock temp sensor says about 88 degrees.

Yeah standard oil pressure sensor is next to useless to be honest, best bet is to get an oil sandwich plate (saves drilling pipes) and a seperate gauge

"Oil pressure reads near zero until you rev it, then flaps about helplessly? You must be driving an RX-7 FD3-S. Nothing at all to worry about, sir, they all do that..."

Odd how they never put "features" like that into the brochures, isn\'t it lol

Yeah, mine\'s done it for over three years, only just got round to fitting a new aftermarket gauge. Doesn\'t mean you\'ve got no oil pressure, just that the gauge isn\'t reading it. I think a Mazda one would be a) silly money and b) just as sh!t as the one you have now. Like the man said, fit an oil sandwich plate between the oil filter and housing, and it\'ll give you two easy takeoffs for oil temp and pressure gauges. Then get good afternmarket ones that don\'t flap!

running smooth, now insured and all I need is an MOT which it will be going in for as soon as I sort out the exhaust out which is blowing at the front, I cant wait to get this baby out in the summer!

I just need to find a cheap run around for mid week now lol

Suprisingly tho, my pressure gauge reads fine most the time, has the odd flutter but blip the throttle and it come back lol, should really take my own advice and get a gauge lol...

Well hope all goes well with the MOT mate, and yeah have fun with it, if we actually get a summer this year!!! :)

Thanks I hope all goes well, I dont have a pipe from the air pump but to be honest I drink with the guy who does my MOT\'s so emissions should not really be a problem lol

Yea I really want a good summer so I can go to a few shows such as jap fest and trax :)

To be honest I dont mind,

I have been looking at VW polo\'s at the moment, they seems cheap to buy and run but tbh its only going to be something to leave at the car park at uni and outside work so it matters not im just looking for something with as close to 12 months mot as possible to run cheap :)
